well, i drove 1100 miles yesterday from L.A. to Limon, CO. that's exactly halfway to Indy. went thro CA, NV, UT and CO. i pushed really hard trying to ride ahead of the big winter storm, but still got caught in the middle of the tip while passing Vail, it was the highest point of the trip elevation wise. it took me 2 hours to cover 8 miles at altitute between 1.7miles and up to the top of 2 miles. the snowing was bad, but at least there was no wind. traffic was a mess because all the big rigs were required to chain up and there was hundreds of them just doing it in the dark on the side of the road, some even in the slow lane of a two lane high-way.

i'm trying to get another 1100 miles covered today, now it's gonna be all flat, no more mountains.

Are you just visiting for the holidays?

That's going to be a nice trip, take your time a bit more . . . there's a whole lot to see just off the highway. If you have a laptop with WiFi, some rest stops have free access to see what's around . . . though you'll probably be where ever it is you are going by the time you read this.

I thought I had read that too, but the truck just doesn't look stuffed enough.

Either way, at least Badlands offroad park is only 1 1/2 hours from Indianapolis . . .

well, most of my stuff were shipped via trucking. i did carry a lot of tools and spare parts with me.

i pulled in the driveway 4am eastern time sunday morning. made the whole 2200 miles in 49 hours. it has been a fun trip for me specially the first day in the snow, i'm just too tired to write about it now. second day was boring, nothing but straight line highway and fighting the 40-mile per hour crosswind all day long. the high lights were seeing 7 ot 8 big bloody spots and skid marks on the pavement. from the size of them, i don't think these got hit were dogs. (hint.....deer?)
