Hey Guys.

I have yet another question about my 4Runner that I am hoping someone could help me with.

I bought my truck back in June, and installed a 3" OME suspension life a couple weeks ago. This lift included a ToyTec 1" diff drop install as well.

Anyway, a day or so after the lift was installed I just happened to notice some oil-like spots under the truck in the driveway. i get down on my back to get a better look and see an oil-like substance on the drivers-side CA, CV, and power steering unit. :chair: oh great. I take it back to the guy who installed it, he looked over everything and came to the conclusion that the front diff. had too much gear-fluid in it. He told me that this seems like this was something that had been going on for awhile since there was some dried, caked on fluid on the skid plate right underneath it. Since everything seemed to be in working order, we just went ahead and drained some out. Now, I haven't had anymore instances where it has started leaking again, but I just wanted to know if anyone has seem something like this before.

Thanks
Ryan

the only way to really know is drain it all out and replace with correct amount.

dont forget your crush washers for the fill and drain plugs. maybe not totally necessary but for like 2 dollars you can be sure of no leaks or weeping. its worth it to me on something opened so rarely as diffs

ok. i was able to get 2 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic gear lubricant 75w-90 API GL-5. i believes the front diff requires 1.2 quarts, correct? also, the crush washer. is there a specific size or different name it might have? i didnt have any luck finding one of those.

the stealership should have them. they didnt have both on hand for me for the front diff so i had to order one.
for 3rd gen 4R (i dont know what you have)you are looking at part number 12157-10010 for the fill and 90430-24003 for the drain
