Got a question. Bought some toyo A/Ts awhile back but didn't replace the rims at all. not sure exactly what rims are on there right now, they came with the truck when i bought it. But my tire size right now is 31x10.50 R15. but im unaware of the backspacing on my current rim. I do believe they are 15x8s though. My question is can i put the tires i have right now on a 15x10? And what will 4 inches of backspacing do to how far my tires stick out? I should be okay, right? I live in cali and cops are hella anal about this crap. I've provided pics, if it helps any

Heres my current rim with the new ish tires.

If you're from Hawaii go ahead and put it on the 15x10's. Your tires will look very balloony.

But you really should keep to 15x8, that way you can air down, and not worry as much about loosing a bead.

Okay. I have no problem with that. the 15x8 rims are 20 bucks cheaper than the 15x10s. will i need to buy 15x10s later on if i ever decide to buy 33x12.50s though? ( thats my futuristic plan )

Nope, 15x8's are perfect for 33x12.5x15s. The majority of people on here running that size tire are running 8" wide rims.

Whoa sweet, for a minute there i was bummed about having to buy another set of rims. thats awesome. thanks, man. Rims are only gonna cost me about $165 brand new. So uhh, what would be the differences between a 15x8 and a 15x10? my uncle runs a 15x10 on a 33x12.50 R15. hes the one that told me to go with a 15x10.

The 33x12.5 tire will probably wear better on a 10" wide rim, but you have to be more careful airing down to not lose a bead. You can air farther down with an 8" rim, and it just takes a little more playing with the air pressure to get the right one for wear on the street.

Also, the 15x10's wiht 33x12.5's are actually harder to fit on our 4runners. YOu will get more rubbing at full lock than with 15x8's.

What does your uncle drive?

Alrighty, Im feeling the 15x8s then. Hes running a 15x10 Eagle Rims on his tundra,

Thats his truck.

I like the look of his rims, but im not looking to spend 400+ on a set. so thats why im going with cheap black steels that look good.

cool tundy!

Yeah, you'll be better off with 15x8's and you'll have more flexibility in the tire sizes that you can choose that will fit your 4runner. The 15x10's ans 33x12.5's will rub more than 15x8's and 33x12.5, sounds weird but it's true. Also with the 15x8's you could run 33x10.5's if you wanted to or go back down to 31x10.5 etc....

Yeah, i was debating the whole 33 x 10.50 but i didn't do a whole lotta research on it before i bought the tires i have on it right now. so i just replaced the tires with the same size that were on it before and im happy with it. I'll order some 15x8 rims and have em shipped to my house and swing over to les schwab and have them switch the rims out, rebalance, rotate, and what not. I was actually planning on doing a $40 paint job on the rims i have now, but decided not to. I'll save the paint for the window trim, mirrors and maybe the front bumper. :D

plus with steel wheels, you can always use a hammer to straighten out the bead if it gets waffled. Try that with alum wheels and they'll just crack

Yeah, im going with the steel for durability, plus if they get scratched or messed up in any way i can just powder coat them and what not. I want these rims to last me a looooong time
