Well, damn. My Iridium IK-22's are starting to feel a little "sluggish" under boost, so I seized the opportunity and bought some Denso Copper 5062 plugs. The screw-on caps of the IK-22's have given me hell in the past, so I was looking forward to using some plugs that has a solid cap... but no such luck.
Yay New Plugs:

Sweet, 3 electrodes:

Damn! Screw on top:

I'll have to try and decide if I'm going to solder these caps on, or JB weld them like I did with the IK-22's. :argue: At least the Copper's are a lot cheaper than the IK-22's.

Just use some red LocTite - easier than JBWeld (yeah, I'm that lazy) and I would think it won't coat the threads as thick - think "electrical conductivity through JBWeld"
Red locktite is a much better idea. Use the gel kind tho or its runny.

though for real bling they should get tig welded on :best:

How are those working out for you Brian?

Honestly, I don't like them. :shake: They can't be gapped so I think I have more misses at high-boost than the IK-22's gapped .032 did. I'm going to be going back to IK-22's when I do my top-end rebuild.

Thanks, I'm getting some bad wear on my IK22 ground straps on the drivers side so I was looking for a better plug. Like maybe a dual platinum or a dual iritium/platinum plug. Something with a higher wear ground electrode for this waste spark ignition system of the 5VZFE. I did find a Denso dual iritium/platinum plug but I'm not sure where to find it or what number to use: http://www.globaldenso.com/en/products/aftermarket/plug/plus/features.html

Yeah when I took my IK-22's out they had worn down more on one bank than the other, but I didn't think too much of it. I would just re-gap them every 5000-10,000 miles or so and maybe swap sides when you re-gap.

I've heard some bad things about swapping sides, something to do with changing the polarity after the plug has been in service that was not good, but I can't remember why now.
It appears the Denso dual plugs are sold in Europe under the names Iridium Tough and Iriduim Plus 2, see here: http://www.denso-europe.com/Iridium-Spark-Plug---1013450000000001.aspx

I think I found the number that would be the same as the IK22 but with a platium ground plating. Its the VK22: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-4224-denso-iridium-tough-spark-plug-vk22.aspx
