NO, I didn't have a chance to have some fun in the snow because my 4Runner is still at the shop for a tranny rebuilt. tried few doughnuts with my wife's front wheel drive RAV4 using hand brake, pretty cool, thou.

California has it's own problems but I'd miss it everyday if I left. There are other states that have a lot to offer but I think it would take a lot for me to leave. Sure I had frost on the windshield this morning but it's nice and sunny now. We'll probably have a drought this summer and maybe water rationing but that's what it's all about, right.
I guess I'm just glad I don't have to shovel snow.
Ewww, I hate cali. The weather and area is nice, but everything else just ewww...

Yeah there's a lot more to CA than the stereotypes suggest. But, yeah we don't need more people moving here, so yeah it sucks. :hillbill:

Yeah, So Cal is nice but it's just too damn expensive and, for me, there are too many people - it can't even naturally sustain the people that live there now, they have to pull so much water from all the neighboring states. Besides that bit, the geography is awesome and there are some really nice peeps out that way. I wouldn't mind moving back some day - maybe North Cali, up near Trinidad or Eureka.

I've been to Cali a grand total of once. This was back in early 1990 (I managed a system furniture installation for a reservation center for Lufthansa at LAX).
My wife's (then fiance) Grandmother lived right off of Sunset. I rented a Caddy for the weekend and took her out to dinner.
I bunch of firsts for me out there. First time I had avacado on a sandwich, first time a saw a REAL sunset, first time I had seen "tear downs", first drive on PCH. I had a good time. Went up to LACC too. Weather was beautiful the whole time I was there.
Of course here in Pittsburgh, weather forecast was for 3-5 inches of snow. We had snow alright - about an inch - followed by 3" of freezing rain on top of that, then another couple of inches of snow on top of that this afternoon. Makes for a nice mess.
Its mostly the laws and the bad people that keep me away, otherwise its a really nice place.

I Hate Cali. It has the best weather, local beaches, top of the line trails. In truth, even though I work at the beach, I want to live in the Carson Valley. Carson Valley is just the other side of Tahoe on the Nevada side. I lived around that area for 9 years. Top Rock climbing, Top notch 4x4 trails and free land, lakes, fishing, shooting, telemarking/skiing, cant beat it.

Where are the bad people?
Where are the bad people?
The liberals, the tree huggers, the peta idiots, illegals, etc, etc.
I been there once and whoa..my great uncle lives in simi valley iirc is the name of the town. We visited several other areas, san fran, LA, sandiego, etc
I could never live in a state which so brutally denies gun rights, is the single most costly places to live in the US, has the worst laws and restrictions in general and most importantly laws on vehicles.
Im sorry but it aint for me. Truly beautiful place, but I would be happier in montana or Virginia or something.. I am pretty sure I wouldnt fit in either as I am a redneck lol..

Problem is though, where else buy California can you get a great burrito or taco at 3am while traveling or visiting people? :D
try the home of the best mexican food in the states...Texas! why is it the best? because its made by the half of the state that IS mexican. on to more serious items though...
I'm with CJM on this one. give me any state but Cali! to further refine it, give me Texas or the south any day!
i don't need ANY state government trying to tell me i can't have a handgun or that my car pollutes too much. boo-freakin-hoo!

Virginia or something.. I am pretty sure I wouldnt fit in either as I am a redneck lol..
Haha, the majority of the state is redneck. But that's what I like about it. Most people not from here picture L.A., S.F., S.D. because that is what they hear about. The majority of CA is major AG with small towns. There are massive (bigger than some states) areas that have a very small number of people per square mile.
Also, the majority of the whiney libs, originally came from other states. We should start shipping them back where they came from.
The sad fact is there are so many of them sending them back is hard.
I just cant stand the inane laws and rules, NJ is bad I know but I am gone sooner or later.

I like VA, especially the Hampton Roads area. If I was going to live anywhere on the east coast, VA would be it. Montana is better though. Hard to top the beauty of Glacier N.P. and Waterton Lakes (Canadian side of Glacier). I liked Cali when I visited, but I was only there for a month. Lots of cool stuff to do in CA, especially for us folks.

I really like the outdoors, hence why places like montana, idaho, the dakotas, wyoming, etc interest me. I like the midwest weather, dont mind snow at all and stuff. I used to backpack, go camping, climbing a bit, etc when I had the time.

2ndgen, congrats on the house, it looks nice.

Depends, further your out into the boonies the less chance you have of them being anywhere near b/c they cant hack it out there.

That is so far from the truth! They reach out and touch you there, like I said before, the majority of CA is "the boonies" and barely liveable, but that doesn't keep them from closing places like Surprise Cyn near Death Valley among a whole list of other trails that are definately out where they can't hack it.
I been to wyoming to visit my uncle. He lives 2 hours from anything but the general store in a little itty bitty town. There were none of the shall we say "idiots" out there. My cabin in PA, I am 45 mins from any real towns or stores-none out there.
Maybe its just CA? Cause i mean real boonies, the kind where they cant take the weather, the people out there would chase them out anyways. It took me 10 years of building a repertoire with my neighbors and friends near my cabin b/c I according to them am from the burbs (true yes).
The people in places I mention FORCIBLY chase outsiders out lol..
Maybe im just blessed I never encountered anything like you mention Chris..

My point wasn't that they live there, my point was that they are able to force their crap on you from where they live. It was reinforcing what 2ndgen said, and to be on the lookout. Many of the places with restrictions, closures, etc... aren't from the people who live there. Surprise Cyn in DV is a prime example of that.
Maybe its just CA? Cause i mean real boonies, the kind where they cant take the weather, the people out there would chase them out anyways.
You're right CA doesn't have anywhere with harsh weather... or "real boonies" or long distances to civilization
LoL I dunno Chris..
I love cali in its areas and general surroundings but its the people, the laws and the horrible cost of living that ever keep me from moving there unless I was forced to.
