Has anyone had the starter contact issue reoccur on their truck?
I replaced mine about 1-2 years ago and now the symptoms are showing up again.
Sometimes it turns over fine and sometimes all i get is the dreaded "click".

Not me. I didn't replace the contact on the plunger though. If mine started doing it again I would go and pick up that contact before I pulled the starter again.
Ya know, I just spoke to YotaFun the other day about this. He didnt even replace the contacts (although he intended to). He just removed it as much as he could and putit back on and somehow it works 100% better now. He said he thinks the bolts were to tight.

Unfortunately I'm in a bit of a time crunch, so I wonder if i could sand them down (temp. fix) if i can't get the contacts in a timely manner.

If you're going to take the time to pull the starter and take it apart you should replace the contacts. I'd go with dealer parts but all the box shops have them too. If not get some ordered up so they'll be there when you're ready to actually do the work.

If you're going to take the time to pull it all apart, at least repair it right.

Obviously I want to do it right, but my concern is that I may not get the contacts in a timely manner. It took a ton of digging last time to get the contacts and I desperately need the truck for this weekend. I'd have plenty of time after this weekend to do it right.

Then wait until after the weekend. I think most people said their junk would still start, it just took tons of tries. The most mine ever took were 4 or 5.
Here are the part numbers, call your dealer.

If the plunger's surface is messed up, or the bearings are wasted, then this would cause problems. You can resurface the plunger in a drill press :D, and put new bearings in it (maybe 5 bucks).
