Not sure how publicized this information is outside of Orange County but our recently appointed Sheriff is on a vendetta against CCW holders and she doesn't care what other rights she has to trample on to achieve her goal. At a recent Board of Supervisors meeting she used SWAT personnel to intimidate attendees and speakers, a clear first amendment violation. It's gotten so bad that the Board of supervisors is seeking to replace the Sheriffs department for board and county security.

Our next Big Supervisors Meeting is Tuesday 2/10/09 in Santa Ana, we need anyone that can to come out in support of 2nd amendment rights.

This is a great group of guys that is trying to turn the tide in CA and are making progress.
Here are some good links about the situation. Hope to see some of you there.

Depends on the state and then down to the town/county level. SOme are shall issue, some are may issue, some are forget about it.

If you like guns I strongly urge you to get out of cali, it aint much better in NJ but cali is actively trying to rid thier state of guns.

It is a state permit controlled by state penal code but it is issued by the county sheriff and in a few cases city PD chiefs. Sheriffs have total autonomy on good cause policy, a good portion of the counties are shall issue but others like SF an LA are won't issue.

Check out this link for your counties status http://www.calccw.com/Forums/county-faq/7158-county-map-california-ccw-issuance.html#post104643

I'm from NJ and I'm not going back :)

Weather here was high 70's and 99% sun today. I heard about the weather back east.

Besides with Obama in charge all states will soon be CA. We need to put up a good fight here, if we can overcome here the rest of the country is a piece of cake.

Good Times

If any of you are bored and looking for some good reading take a look at this email sent by one of the Orange County Supervisors to his constituents. This is not an editorial this written by a member of the Board of supervisors that isn't, or wasn't a big CCW supporter.

Subject: CCW Public Hearing, Feb. 10

Dear Concerned Citizen:

This Tuesday, February 10 at 9:30 a.m., the Board of Supervisors will again hold a public hearing on CCW policy.

All of you concerned about this issue should attend and speak.

All those concerned about the presence of over 30 deputies at the January 13, meeting should speak. All those concerned about the illegal snooping by hidden security cameras on Supervisor Nguyen and myself should speak. All those concerned about the disdain shown by the Sheriff’s staff toward the public and elected officials by the recent release of text messages should speak.

At that time, the sheriff will reveal her latest tactics on pulling legally-issued CCW permits to law abiding citizens. This will be the third hearing on this issue.

The time and money wasted on this misguided jihad against law-abiding citizens is appalling. I’m sorry that these hearings do not seem to lead to any resolution. Perhaps the sheriff wants to draw them out until all of you grow exhausted and give up your efforts. But you must remain active. Your voices must be heard.

I look forward to hearing your voices at our February 10 hearing, in the Board room at 333 W. Santa Ana Blvd., Santa Ana. Please contact my staffers—Doug Cox and Bruce Whitaker—for any further information, at 714-834-3440.

Sincerely,

Chris Norby

Fourth District, Orange County
