Picked up this truck in the beginning of November '05. It had 31's, 3" AAL front and rear, lockright locker, and a whole bunch of problems not described when I bought it. :shake:

Lacking a garage, all I did that winter was give it it's first dent. Slid off the trail into a tree.

One the weather changed, I added leather bmw seats, sliders and a soft top:

Sorry, crappy quality pic of dirty seats:

About June I started accumulating parts for an SAS and chevy spring swap (I know it had an sfa, it is just the best way to describe it). Also threw on the beginning of a new bumper that gained me a ton of clearance over the old one, plus longer temporary shackles to add some more clearance to the rear until I could throw the chevy springs in. Also started to rub the truck on enough trees, etc, that the bondo started flaking off. :hillbill:

In July did the Chevy springs, I got maybe 2 inches of lift out them, not all that impressive, but they ride nice and flex well. Also welded my front diff...with stock steering :screwy: Did that on Saturday, took it wheeling on Sunday! :D

Somehow I managed to not get a SINGLE pic of the chevy's flexing on my truck, hahaha. Just a couple of stuff shots.

Put in a wider rear axle from an IFS truck...wheeled it...are you seeing a pattern here?

Went to Paragon, broke my stock steering, didn't want to fix it, so I started the SAS a little earlier than planned. The front hanger was from Trail-Gear along with the high steer, u-bolt flip, and IFS box mount. The rears up front are two packs, one from an '85 4runner and one from an '85 pickup. I built 6 leaf packs out of them. Top three are in the stock configuration, the lower three are cut down, each about 4" shorter, front and rear, than the last.

I ordered an axle truss and boomerang shackles from Dunks Performance (Sky manufacturing reseller), but it was late arriving, so I had to throw the stock shackles on just to drive home.

Cutting everything off:

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e288/intrepidyota/4Runner%20minor%20repairs/P1010001Medium.jpg

Front hanger welded on, cutting off some brackets and crap on the axle:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e288/intrepidyota/4Runner%20minor%20repairs/P1010004Medium.jpg

Springs in (notice Lee in the background and the incredible brake line stretch, haha:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e288/intrepidyota/4Runner%20minor%20repairs/P1010006Medium.jpg

Axle and high-steer arms bolted up:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e288/intrepidyota/4Runner%20minor%20repairs/P1010005Medium.jpg

I got a good amount of lift out of them, probably 4 inches total, which is perfect, unfortunately, it is definitely nose high since I only got a couple inches out of the chevy springs. In these pics I hadn't gotten the shock towers on, brake lines in, or boomerang shackles in. Drove it home like that. :)

To explain since no doubt people will notice, the axle is gold, haha, that was a prank...not my inner bling coming out.

Got a great deal on some 34x9.5" swampers and steelies, which I figure will have to do until I can get gears and birfs to support larger tires. Threw in the new shackles, brake lines, and 2" AAL also.

Got some cheap ranchos, steering stabilizer, and d-shaft in, then rebuilt the knuckles which took me a lot longer than I thought it would. I got really tired of playing in that greenish runny grease/gear oil/water mixture, haha.

How it sits now, a little rear low, I will work on that, but for now, it works, which is the big thing.

Broke a pitman arm. :( I had a lot of spare parts, but that wasn't one of them. I got lucky because another guy with the same TG pitman arm was on the run, so we used his to get me back to the trail head where I could be towed home, then put it back on his truck so he could keep wheeling. :banger:

Obstacle that I did it on:

In October I bought 4.7:1 t-case gears, went on one last run before intalling them...and started having engine issues. I threw them in anyway...and then could no longer drive it. :( Lacking the cash to do anything at that point I parked it for a couple months. Near the end of January, with the help of a friend, we pulled the engine.

http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/7148/nonamemedium2yl2.jpg

After a false start and more issues than I want to discuss, we finally got a running engine in it. We found an '89 22r with 40k miles on a rebuild, converted it to EFI and dropped it in! :D Got it finished up and running on Friday March 23rd at about 8 pm, test drove it, loaded up my gear, and took it wheeling on Saturday March 24th.   I LOVE the 4.7's!

5.29's should be in within the next month, after that a 13.5" bob is on it's way. Once that is done I can get some fender hoops on there...to protect my smashed fenders. :(

Also added Exo to the list. :D
