So This weekend in sacramento it was really windy 50mph gusts and record winds in some places, I woke up sunday morning to a knock on the door at around 8 I ignored it and went back to sleep about 30 minutes later heard it again, then my gf phone went off it was the manager office, she let it go to voice mail I didnt think anything of it then i heard the sound of a chainsaw outside thinking WTH, couldnt go back to sleep so I got up my gf listened to her voicemail and in shock told me that a Tree had fallen on my truck. I rushed down to the parking lot to find this

It has a few dents and scrapes and the drivers side mirror is broken, going to talk to my insurance today at noon to see what to do but all in all ya the tailgate took most of it

Bummer. Good thing your tailgate took the worst of it though.

BTW, did the folks that painted your parking lot spell "visitor" wrong, or is there dirt covering up part of the R?

Good thing it was a toyota, I'm sure that'll buff right out. :)

A different kind of carnage! You are definitely lucky - I wouldn't even be upset if I were you; the tree could've been a little longer and then...very bad!

Lol i think they did, i didnt even notice that before i checked my other pics and it looks like its painted that way Visitop,

So my Update is i talked to my insurance company and im covered have a $250 deductable so the flat bed idea probably wont happen lol, im not upset about it at all actaully found it kinda funny pay it off and this happens, pink slips = murphys law, and considering my truck stoped the tree from taking the power lines with it id say it was probably a good trade off.

Is the top edge of the bed side all buggered up?

Wow...that could have been a lot worse. Pretty awesome that it didn't do any worse damage.

It shoulda feel on Andy's truck, that woulda been better. he would've been trippin. lmao. isn't the apartment complex insurance dealing with it or is yours? I never expected it to be a tree when you called me the morning it happened. lol

My Insurance is handeling it, not real sure how andy would handle it his is a tundra so it probably would of done less damage

What? shouldn't the property managers insurance cover it since they "compromised" the tree but placing concrete and cutting the roots out?

I doubt that the property manager's insurance would cover this. Most likely, MKtaco's insurance will just consider this an "act of God" and cover the majority of the cost.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like there was some yard area between the building and the parking lot. Typically, a tree's roots don't extend much farther than the drip line (outer edge of the limbs). From what I can see in the picture, it looks like there is sufficient space for a tree's roots.

Insurance and plants aren't my expertise, so maybe I'm wrong. :D
