Man, I hope it is not the starter going out. Running fine without any problems til yesterday. I got in and it would not start. Battery still strong. Turn key and then maybe one click or nothing. I put it in Neutral and it started. I didn't know if it was a coincidence or if there was a problem with the truck thinking it was in gear. It drive's fine, alt. fine, battery has good juice. None of the lights dim when I turn to start. It just does nothing. It did nothing this morning. Would not start in P or N. It's only around 20 here and it has cranked with no problems in lower temps this year.

I am going to jump the soleniod to see if cranks right up. I guess I would rather change that than anything else, unless someone has any other things to check.

Thx.

Check the cable that runs from the battery to the starter and make sure there aren't any bare wires showing.

I had a similar issue, and my battery cable had some bad spots in it. I replaced the cable, and worked fine after that.

Could be neutral safety switch too, I would check all wires, connections and make sure its in Park. I had the same issue in mine, turned out the shifter is only trul hitting the park switch when its slammed home.

got access front right side and tested the continuity on the positive wire from battery to starter--Good. Then took a few good licks to the starter and walked around the truck, first nothing, then turned over. Motor not locked up, relay won't stop working, then start working so left with starter is bad. Common for them to turnover after a few good whacks.

Might be better to put in your vin just to be completely sure those are the right part numbers..

I just did this on my truck and it fixed the no start...

man, I wish I knew that 3 weeks ago after my Feb. 24 post. I bought an autozone rem. starter and put it in. It is just what I had to do as this is my DD.

Thanks for the info. I will keep this in the back of my mind to up my knowledge.
