I have a client who is in dire need of a very unique inventory / distribution / warehouse / sales application and I'm hoping one of you guys might be able to give me some direction as I've exhausted my normal avenues of resources.

Application - Inventory / Sales (ERP possibly?)
Product - Raw Materials (unfinished products)

I originally looked into your run of the mill sales application but the uniqueness of their product makes it very difficult for me to wrap around. The products are sold as a whole but each product (although they are the same) do not weigh the same. Therefore the sales side has to be sold by the weight of the raw material(s). Also
the products have to be sold on a FILO (first in last out) method due to the storaging of the product.

Anyone out there in a similar environment or know of any applications that can manage all of this? Any and all suggestions are welcomed :)

Have you considered taking a look at a Supermarket's System since they sell produce using IIRC a 4 digit code and weight based pricing? Know anyone at Vons/Safeway? Relate that to a storage location based logistics/analytics and you're set.

It's definitely a bit more complicated than that. I know that it requires a specialized raw materials distribution / inventory / sales (ERP) software. It's definitely not your average run of the mill Quickbooks like application they're looking for.

The biggest difficulty I'm facing is that the FILO means the system needs to know what the last in # of the material but the problem is that they're all the same item number. Maybe I'm just looking at it the wrong way but we've determined your average supermarket like pos system won't apply. :/

i know someone who works for an erp company. i can tell you they get a LOT of money to implement these systems because they are insanely complex... not sure what your exact needs are versus their pricing, but just a heads up!

Lee,

If you can send me any info on it I'm all ears. I already know this is beyond my capabilities and I need to source a company that is capable of handling their needs.

Thanks :)

 He said "p o s"! ;) Please use a professional term like inventory logistics or something less reminiscent of actual pos stuff most retailers sell. :D
