I will be stick with stock rims for the time being,
however I am do for new tires (to pass inspection).

I have settle upon treadright tires for he fact that they are cheap but after reading reviews are well rated.
The size 285/75/16.

So this is were the topic question comes in.
If I put a set of the 1/4" spacers on the front, will the clear the upper control arms or will I need more.
I know some say they have been able to run run that size stock so I figure this should put me in the clear but I am not sure.
I haven't read of anyone running this set up I though asking might get someone out of the wood work :-)

Stock suspension? It all boils down to the tire and how it behaves on the 7". I'm going to say no go without considerable trimming and pounding. 1/4" spacers are very thin, most people use them to eliminate uca rub AFTER a lift and have slight tire-uca contact. The geometry of the control arm at its original setting is most likely going to protrude too far into the tire to make it drivable, or even mountable.

But there's only one way to find out for sure, anythings doable so go ahead and try!

You miss understand, I am lifted.
Sonoran Steel system 1.51 (current 1.2)

So I think the 1/4" would be just enough to clear the 285 since some people can run 285 with stock rims and no spacers.

I think you would be fine.

Honestly you need to find someone who has a set of tires in that size mounted to stock rims-then get soem washers and build them up to 1/4 of an inch and see. That would be a surefire way Avy.

go to pepboys, it carries 1/4" spacers, if it dosn't clear the UCA, just return it.

IIRC, you will need at least 1" spacers to clear the 285, but because the length of the stock lug bolts sticking out of the hub is 1-1/4", therefore, you will need 1-1/4" spacers. just the front ones, you see all the long travle trucks all of them have the front wheels wider than rear.

No way. I cleared 285x75r16's on stock 5-spoke alloys with about 1/4" of room between the tire and the UCA (I suspect there may have been a slight bit of rubbing under flex). I could see how some tires with more agressive tread on the sidewall may have rubbed, but I can't imagine you'd need anything more than a .25-.5" spacer to clear. You only need bigger spacers if you a) like the look, or b) were going with larger backspace rims (like 17" FJ or Tacoma alloys for example).

I'm now running 285x70r17 BFG A/T's on 17" FJ Alloys and custom 3/4" spacers (approximate effective BS of 4.1"), the tires have about 3/4" inch to the UCA when sitting flat on the street. With some flex it probably gets somewhat closer due to pivot on the upper ball joint.

Ah, its better to put that in your original post so people don't have to do detective work. You'll be fine, or pretty close to fine, like 2nd gen said just get the spacer and try, if its not needed return it. You will not need an inch spacer though thats for sure, trial and error buddy

im running those tires in the mt pattern and i do rub but only when wheeling. its only when the wheel drops down that they touch. im not sure what size spacer would be best. im guessing not much, but the rub isnt terrible so im letting it go for now

Sweet!

Well after reviewing everyone's comments.
I am going to run the spacers to be on the safe side of things.
Unfortunately I am going to have to order them from wheelers because the Pepboys here in PA does not sell them do to them being illegal.
I will be checking DE to see if they might carry it before I put my order through.

I know your all thinking "why is he putting on spacers when they are illegal in his state?"
I have friends in high places, and also, 1/4" spacer will not be noticed that much my a officer rolling by, heck I didn't even know my friend was running them on his Taco till we went to do his from diff...

Well Delaware does have them so I will be picking two up tomorrow and see how it looks.
Next week I will be getting ordering tires as well and then hopefully getting them on and running
