....to get the tires rotated on my Tundra. They are a few years old and due for replacement before next fall, but I rotate them regularly. Anyway, so I'm waiting in the lobby reading that treasonous Time magazine and the manager swaggers over to inform me that my brakes need to be replaced. I knew that too.
I wasn't born yesterday. I know he's trying to upsell me to generate more cash flow, but I'm curious so I play dumb. He continues to tell me how urgent this proceedure is and how this isn't a job for amateurs.....uh huh..... Woven into his tale is a detail that ticked me right off. He proudly declared that I would need new rotors ("Those are the silver discs that you see through your wheels...") since the ones I have are too old to resurface. What he doesn't know is that I bought new factory rotors from the dealer last spring and put them on. I kept the old ones so that I would have two pair. That way when I get rotor runout I can turn a pair down and have them ready in advance. They cost me 70.00 each. "Those will be about 120.00 each. "We can do each side for about $200.00..."
Okay thanks you freakin sphincter nugget!
I pretended to be interested and mentioned I also needed to change my timing belt and water pump as well as get some new tires by fall. He exclaimed that they are going to like me this year. Later, I dropped by to have Mrs Fuster's bimmer's spare tire fixed. They did it for free since I was going to be their favorite customer this fall......NOT!
[/RANT]
I will buy the tires from them however...
