Sounds like it could be a good option for some of you. Complete with milling machine, lathe, and welders.

All I see is liability on behalf of the owner, and I am very picky when it comes to machine shop equipment and who used it before me.

Its a great idea though !

Back in college we had a machine shop on campus at our disposal and I didn't hear of any problems like major accidents or anything. They were pretty strict about what you could do and couldn't do and watched over everybody pretty well. But I hear you about the liability.

On the two different Navy bases i was stationed at we had the same set up.

You could go in and rent a stall and borrow tools, everything a well equipped shop had.

Could even get your brakes turned by the guy manning the desk.

Never heard of a problem out of them.

My buddy rebuilt his 69 camaro in one had the stall for like 6 months.

thats a really cool idea for people that know what they are doing... hopefully they screen people before letting just anyone use the equipment... otherwise definitely a liability...

I have seen four jaws lose thier grip on a part and fly across the room. Would have killed anyone in its path, and this was a master machinist at work. Its a genuine good idea, but I would have someone watching over everyones shoulder, for safety reasons.
