Today's WOOT: Westinghouse 42" 1080p HD Ready LCD TV for $1049.99 + $5 shipping.

Looks like it might not be a bad deal, but I don't know how good of a set it really is.

actually...if you do your research, westinghouse has the best tv for your buck. I have been doing research on their HD TV's and for the money, you cannot beat it.

The woot link is for a refurb.

Actually I lied it was DHC6twinotter that commented on them:

Yes, NG = no good

I like my LG plasma but next time I'm going LCD with full 1080 (not 1080 ready) resolution.

Yeah, the Westinghouses aren't that great. Or at least the ones we had. We had a total of 7 and 3 of them had issues turning on and off. The only way to get them to turn on was to unplug it from the wall and replug it back in. We ended up using these 3 as PC monitors in our offices. They work pretty good for that.:D The model listed here looks like the same model that we have.

Sorry to be a party-pooper. Thier prices are pretty good, but I guess it's just a hit and miss on their quality.

Just my $.02. :D

I looked it up on the website.
Looks OK on paper. Contrast is a little low, and the response time is average LCD 8ms, if its true.
I generally steer clear of the "generic" displays. We put up these type of displays every once in a while. And we always seem to get a phone call later to check it out for them or to take it down and rehang the new one.

When i spec out LCDs i generally go with Sharp, Samsung is OK but i have seen better, Olivea seems to have a decent pic and for the money is pretty good bang for the buck.
I know there are other s worth mentioning but my brains tired form doing this all day so that's all i could dregs up for now.
