great time on saturday!!! after a 6 month or so hiatus from the dirt, it felt wonderful to get back on the trails and have a little fun! ok well, ALOT of fun!!!

finally getting to a computer so i can upload pictures.

huge thanks to JC for coming out for his first time doing some crazy stuff on dirt (i dont think miller counts!)

on to the pictures. these are in order. i have some videos i will put up when i get a chance to trim them down (might take some time)

we were joined by a white bronco. Randy and his wife and daughter were great to have on the trail and i wouldnt mind wheeling with him in the future.

this hill was a challenge not only for JC with open diffs and bald street tires but a poor guy on a dirt bike as well. as always, pictures dont do it justice!

heres me entering one trail offshoot(i dont even know what to call it) the other guys skipped because it was very narrow and some nasty wheel hanging was enjoyed by my friend and me:

i have video of the rest of the above portion, ill get to editing that soon.

i couldnt believe the wildflowers out there!!! ive never been in the late spring, only in the summer, fall, and winter months.

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m141/hamiltoncomputers/cleghorn%205-16-09/IMG_0923.jpg

and then i had to go and get myself in trouble...
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m141/hamiltoncomputers/cleghorn%205-16-09/IMG_0946.jpg

i had to send the other guys back because it got really tight and narrow, and then i quickly i realized i nearly flopped the truck in this exact same spot about a year and a half ago. i had to get out and figure out how to keep at least 3 wheels on the ground and the sheetmetal off of it:
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m141/hamiltoncomputers/cleghorn%205-16-09/IMG_0952.jpg

this is the situation i was in (notice the lanyard on my keys, that would be plumb, so you can get an idea of the angle):

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m141/hamiltoncomputers/cleghorn%205-16-09/IMG_0958.jpg

but my passenger was still having a great time!!! (she couldnt see the rear tire that was 2-3 feet off the ground!)
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m141/hamiltoncomputers/cleghorn%205-16-09/IMG_0960.jpg

sadly, that was not the most scary experience on the trail. in a couple of spots i thought i was going to scrape the rear quarters on the sides of the trail. luckily no body damage at all (besides the normal pinstripes) and everyone returned to the road safely!

i had a great time and was happy to lead two newcomers to the hobby through a fun but moderately challenging trail.

i have to say, it has changed alot since i was there last. much of it is washed out much worse than before. i talked to the ranger at the trailhead and he was pretty confident that while cleghorn will remain open, the trails and offshoots will be closed down in the near future. i did notice alot of trash on the trail this time, really a shame. i doubt we will be able to keep it open, as the trails are not govt. approved and should probably not exist in the first place. still a shame though. enjoy it while you can!

next time i go, its gold mountain for sure!

Cool pics buddy, Looks like you got a haircut !

It's funny, Out of the 6 times I've ran cleg including once backwards, the first 5 I thought it was tough as nails..After the locker it was easy peasy...

As for the wildflowers, they were beautiful, This was a pic from last weekend, I always get a shot of someones truck in this same spot, and here's me..

Thats really sad that the ranger spoke of it being shut down, its my fave shakedown hill, as its one of the closest challenging yet moderate trails I know of.

Anyway, Looks like you had a great time. Wish I coulda been there, Although I did get some wheelin in this weekend at Wildomar..
Hope to see you on the trails soon!!

I had a great time, thanks Sean for putting this together. My tires had a tough time grabbing in some spots but all-in-all it was a fun trail. Randy with his new to him bronco joined us at the trailhead. A good group to wheel with.

I wish I could have made it out. Cleg really is a fun local trail regardless of driver/vehicle ability.

JC, just want to say, you did awesome out there! i tried to avoid the stuff that would get you in trouble being open/open with street tires, but you did very well, and im impressed with your driving ability! once you get some good tires on there we will hit up some more challenging trails.

also, do you mind if i use one of your pictures of my truck for a new avatar and such?

well for the second time in a row i had a bad angle on it. actually, that was probably the least scared, because i knew it wasnt going to roll, i just didnt want something unexpected to happen.

i was much more scared in spots where i thought i was going to slide into the walls while in the deep trenches. looking through the video i got, theres a part where i am actually scared for the paint and you can hear it in my voice. good times though.

Are you talking about the walls that were just down the hill after this obstacle (see vid)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQxZrlCKJks

I think I know the other walls you might be referring too, And while my taco isnt a beauty I was a lil scared too
