we were joined by a white bronco. Randy and his wife and daughter were great to have on the trail and i wouldnt mind wheeling with him in the future.

this hill was a challenge not only for JC with open diffs and bald street tires but a poor guy on a dirt bike as well. as always, pictures dont do it justice!

and then i had to go and get myself in trouble...

i had to send the other guys back because it got really tight and narrow, and then i quickly i realized i nearly flopped the truck in this exact same spot about a year and a half ago. i had to get out and figure out how to keep at least 3 wheels on the ground and the sheetmetal off of it:

this is the situation i was in (notice the lanyard on my keys, that would be plumb, so you can get an idea of the angle):

but my passenger was still having a great time!!! (she couldnt see the rear tire that was 2-3 feet off the ground!)

sadly, that was not the most scary experience on the trail. in a couple of spots i thought i was going to scrape the rear quarters on the sides of the trail. luckily no body damage at all (besides the normal pinstripes) and everyone returned to the road safely!

i had a great time and was happy to lead two newcomers to the hobby through a fun but moderately challenging trail.
i have to say, it has changed alot since i was there last. much of it is washed out much worse than before. i talked to the ranger at the trailhead and he was pretty confident that while cleghorn will remain open, the trails and offshoots will be closed down in the near future. i did notice alot of trash on the trail this time, really a shame. i doubt we will be able to keep it open, as the trails are not govt. approved and should probably not exist in the first place. still a shame though. enjoy it while you can!
next time i go, its gold mountain for sure!
