WOOT
Finnally got her mainly all buttoned up..
Still gotta work on shock mounts, bump stops, bleeding the brakes and moving the LSPV.
But here's how she sits (specs are in the sig)
Before :

This angle is more Dramatic :D
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN0741.jpg
Final numbers :
D/F : 2.25"
D/R : 5.25"
P/F : 3.25"
P/R : 5.25"
So with 3" all pro's I got 5" of lift
and with 881's I got 2.25/3.25" of lift.. Still trying to grasp why theyre so uneven..
I think the rear will stettle down and give it a nice stance :D
Me = Excited :D

 Looks good! I'm sure those springs will settle pretty quick. Plus I don't think a slight rake with an empty bed is bad, it will level out when you have camping gear in there. :hillbill:
I can tell you've been driving the mini van. :flipoff:

Yeah chris, Its not a bad rake, before my headlights were barely useful at night, now im sure they will be back to normal so its all good, I think it looks great with the slight rake anyway..
Oh and, Trust me, Theres only one dent in that van from me, and its from me backing INTO IT with my 1st truck..lolz though..
troy, Im weighing my options..I know talk is nothing but im thinking just using the 31's until I have money for them..
Or, I was thinking switch my birthday wishlist from Budbuilts to 255/85's, Mount them, Sell the 31's and buy the bud builts with that cash, I think that would be the most viable option..

Well I was going to say, It would be a good chance to hone my skills, But it would cost as much as the buds to buy the saw and benders I would need..
And I know people say you brake a buttload of crap with a front locker but whats your reasoning..? Yes I am very stubborn..

my #1 reason for not wanting the front locker with IFS is like you said breakage. next would be the cost since your going to want a selectable for sure, which means arb $$$
so at that point your waaay better off getting a crawl box for just about similar money

we should be ok out in cali on the rocks. you cant mud bog with a locked ifs and you cant lift to the sky, or drive nuts, but turned on only when needed, and treated with respect. they should be the ticket to make the hairy spots more managable. kinda like our rear lockers....were not really going anywhere new but we can take it easy on the truck and pick safer lines

No offense, but wouldn't a front locker have helped you get over some of those ledges easier and not keep breaking rear upper link parts? :headscratch: :hillbill: I've noticed a huge improvement with a front aussie locker (couldn't afford an ARB), I can do more stuff and do more stuff slowly and controlled, where as it took more momentum and wheel spin before. Because of this many wheelers claim that it actually breaks less parts when you are smart. Makes a huge difference in the steep rutted, loose rocky trails we have out here in the west. Like Troy said, you have to be smart with it.

Well I have manual hubs, So selectable is kinda not really an issue..
I see where your going with it and ill keep your advice in mind..
Chris, The aussie isnt that freakin expensive, 230 + shipping thats not bad...

you cant wheel in new england without getting on the skinny pedal. i would break front axles all the time, id rather be able to put the hammer down knowing i wont havta get out and change a cv.
you guys should all come out to NE some day and wheel with us, youll break something :flipoff:

all i ever see is people jumping sand dunes and the occasional rock :D
every area seems to have its share of challenges but ive seen a few west coasters come over here and be totally lost on how to get through a trail. it's really wet and slippery here most of the time. tire grip on dry rock with slow crawling is sort of rare but not unheard of here... mostly you have to get to know instinctively when you just need to give it a kick to get over an obstacle.

. . . 2.5 minutes of solid axle rigs flopping on their side till an IFS rig gets over the obstacle . . . the only one I saw getting over it in that video as a matter of fact

So they dont bottom out so easily and to take advantage of travel..
Im pretty sure ill be moving them up a bit.. :chair:

How close to botttoming out does it come? While crawling the bumpstop doesn't compress much, but while prerunning it will. While testing my suspension out on my driveway my tires cleared, but when we were out at Ocotillo for TDS I noticed that my tires would go into my quarter panels. Something to keep in mind. Looks good though.
Scuba
06-03-2009, 10:09 AM
Well see I dont go prerunning much..
lolz..
But when the bumpstops touch the strike pads there is about 1" in the shock shaft showing.
