Is there a trick to getting the circlip out of the grove? I followed the directions on bajataco's site and it says to depress the seal carrier, but it won't budge. I even tried placing a pcv pipe over the shaft and beating it with a hammer, but no luck.
pics attached.
Thanks!

Is the shock body de-pressureized? Can you open the valve? It looks as if the seal carrier needs to move a bit. Even if you were able to get it out in it's surrent state it would be impossible to re-install it. Is the seal carrier threaded into the shock body? If so whacking on it won't help as much as threaded it in a bit. Maybe you need a giant spanner to try in those holes.

Those holes are for the screws that hold on the seal cover.. already removed those.
As for the depressurization.. I released the schrader valve, and some nitrogen came out.
I was reading online that if the seals in the piston are bad and the nitgrogen leaks into the oil compartment (which is probably my case) then the seal carrier needs to be pushed down with a press. I'm going to head to the shop this morning and see what I can do.
I was able to push down the seal carrier on the other shock just fine, so those seals must've been still intact.
Thanks for the input!

So I went to an auto shop this morning, and we pushed in the seal carrier with a press. I was able to get the circlip out and as we were releasing the press a bunch of nitrogen came out (confirming the nitrogen in oil compartment theory). Now to continue the rebuild.. :-)
