I'm thinking of changing things up a bit (on the cheap) with my 4runner and changing the rims out to the spare tire type rim. Most salvage yards around here are asking between $30 to $40 a piece one even as high as $70.
Is that 30 to 40 dollar price too much or is that about the going rate for them?

I was thinking of going the same route until I got a smokin deal on some Limited 5 Spokes.
I know when I was searching the forums there were guys selling the tire and rim for like $25, So I would look around.
Just my .02
Good Luck!

I think $5 is too much to spend on a detrimental mod. Just my .02.

craigslist is your friend. for those kind of wheels I wouldn't want to spend much if not just take it off someone's hand so it's just not sitting in their yard/garage taking up space.

Ditto - going from Aluminum to Steel is a downgrade.

I was thinking more on the off-road aspect when I did it.
While I have read that a lot of guys are going alloy, I still like the idea of if a rim bends you can hammer it back enough, as apposed to an alloy that will crack not bend...

even so, I love my steel wheels (15x8's) and I wouldnt pay 30 to 40 for one of those. :) I sold mine to CJM for like....25 I think.
Yep, sold me the spare 16 inch rim for cheap :)
Thanks again Chris :)
