I bought a 97 Toyota regular cab 4x4 and it needs new tires. The dilemma is that it has a basic fabtech basic coilover FTS2300K and a FTS205 add a leaf. The Fabtech website says to use 32x11.50R15 tires. The owner has 15x8 wheels with 33x12.5R15 tires, and the tires look to big for the rim. I am planning to replace the wheels and tires. I have been planning on Mickey Thompson Classic II's. According to the BFG website says to rung a 8.5-11 inch wheel for 33X12.5R15. So my question is what is my best option? Do I go with a 15x10 and 33x12.5R15 and will it fit? Or do I look at a 15x8 32x11.5R15, 15x8 33X10.5R15? Here is a link to the MT website for the wheels, http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/wheels.php?item=ClassicII. I am open to seeing what others have done. The seller is not the original owner who originally installed the items. If it matters I am looking at BFG KM2's or BFG All terain T/A KO's.

Scuba has a similar truck, and you might be able pick up some ideas from him:

He has 33s on stock rims, but I'm not sure how wide the stock rims are.

Scuba is pretty active on here, so maybe he will see this and chip in some.

I saw his already. The other question I had is how big of a spare can you fit underneath?

Stock rims are either 15x7 or 16x7.

Your fine dude, you can run a 12.5 inch wide tire on 8 inch wide rims-it just makes it look a bit squished on there. If you want some tires that really fit the rims well find some 33x10.5x15 tires. Skinny and tall.

I know the 33x12.50R15 will fit on a 15x8 rim, but I want it to fit properly.

They do fit properly, not many wheel makers (read none i know of) make an 8.5 wheel that fit our trucks.

Wheels come for toyotas usually in a few sizes. 15x8, 15x7 (stock), 15x10 (too wide for most trucks when put on the front), 16x7 (stock), 16x8 and 16x10.

Just because a 33x12.5x15 tire maker says it should be on a 8.5 inch rim doesnt mean you cannot properly fit them on a 8 inch or even 7 inch wide rim. Ive seen a guy on trail run 36 iroks that were at least 12.5 wide or more on 8 inch wide rims!
