Are tour guides show up in stock white land cruisers with 385/65/17
street tires and running boards. So I start to wonder just how much fun
can you have in sand with a stock LC. But the first thing I notice when
I clime inside is a very nice padded full roll cage. We drive for about
an hour before we turn on to a well traveled trail through the sand.
after about 20 min of this trail I begin to realize why we have stock
vehicles and wonder if I wasted my money on the tour. But since the tour
was through the USO it only cost $45. not to big of a waste for a day in
the desert. About 10 mins later we pull off the trail in to the soft
sand and stop at a big rock that is suppose to look like a camel for
people to get out and take pics. It Just look like a rock to me. Then I
here the sound of air being let out of tires. I can only describe the
next 45 min as the scariest and most fun I will ever have out in the
dunes. and think GOD I had a full roll cage around me or I might have
crapped my pants. I was in the lead vehicle wit a driver that had
lightning reflexes. He would go fast up the dunes at an angle and as
soon as he hit the crest with out slowing down decide if it was safe to
go down or if we had to go along the crest. A couple of times the dune
and the crest decided we where going down as soon as he tried to go
along the top. As soon as you could feel that scary feeling of the sand
giving and wanting to slide the vehicle down sideways, he was already
turning in to it and taking us down. But he never seamed to like going
strait down. Most of the time we slid strait down the dunes with the LC
at about a 45 degree angle and you could feel that it was a little light
on the passenger side. Think God we had the roll cage if we had needed
it. Sorry I did not get pics of most of the cool stuff. But I did get a
couple when we would stop and watch the other vehicles come down

And since no trip to the desert is complete with a camel ride.

 I still kick myself for not doing that when I was there.

Amazing what you can do with some horsepower and stock junk in the dunes.

I'm pretty sure those Land Cruisers aren't running 36" tall and 15" wide tires, so I'm guessing you meant 265/65/17's :wrenchin:
