I happened to come across this five minute Motorweek review of the 1996 4Runner. They just happened to test one with a manual transmission and rear locker. :thumbup:

I love how the 5spd with 4wd and the locker is 31K
No leather or anything.
I love watching it though, that made me fall in love with my 4Runner all over again! lol

That was brief back in 1996. I watched the reviews for the Pathfinder, S10 Blazer and Ford Explorer of that era and they were running mid-11 second 0-60s. Even today, 13 years later, the mid-size SUVs are averaging around 8 second 0-60 times.

definitely a cool video... i would be driving a 3rd gen if i could afford one... but my 2nd gen is more than enough, plus old enough i dont mind wheeling it, or modifying it ;)
