06 sport edition v8 gas gauge issue?

I tried searching but did not see anything for 04+ 4runners. The wifes 4runner is having issues with the gas gauge. Sometimes when you start the car it will say it is empty and flag the low fuel light. The first time it happened I thought somebody must have siphoned the gas out as I had just fueled up that day. Any ideas? Now it is starting to do it more and more. The car has had no drive ability issues.

Strange issue. I've personally never heard of something like this. May just be a faulty sending unit in the fuel tank. If you're still under warranty (long shot), I'd have it checked out.

If you're a wrencher, you can easily test the signal at the tank yourself to see if the resistance is within specification. That's one way to see if it's the sender that's busted.
