For fun i decided to hook up another lcd monitor I had and make my laptop have dual monitors. That part of it worked great, no issues.

Now however it seems it has screwed up my laptops monitor. First off no matter what I do in the settings it still says I have 2 monitors hooked up and I dont and although the resolution was 1024x768-it now looks way to big, almost as if I went down a notch or two in size. I have disconnected theother monitor.

I tried to:
-Uninstall the other monitor
-Remove and reinstall the laptop monitor
-Remove and reinstall my gfx card drivers
-Mess around with the settings in the gfx card

Nothing seems to work, bottom line is the resolution at 1024x768 seems way to large now. Im running like 1440x900 and now its about the closet to the correct size it was when everything was fine and it was set to 1024x768.

Specs:
HP pavillion zd7230us
intel P4 2.8ghz
512 ram
nvidia geforce go 5700

It's kind of a stupid obvious question, but did you try changing the resolution of your desktop back to 1400x900 in the display properties panel?

What kind of settings do you have to change to make your laptop display on an external monitor? On most laptops its by pressing the <fn> key and pressing F8, you might try messing with that.

yep... formatting is a way of life for people... laptops need it more often than desktops too, because they tend to get bogged easier
