OK

First I would like to thank Chris, Lance and Bob for the awesome organization of Pismo 09. Also the rest of the staff that helped out, And April thank you for serving the CC .
I really can not put into words how much fun I had out there, From meeting new people to seeing old
faces it was just great !!
The GPS Challenge was AMAZING, 10 times better then last year. It was a great way to go from the very north part of the dunes all the way to the south corners and see everything the Oceana Dunes has to offer.

Next I would like to thank ALL OF THE VENDORS, From Machine Fab to Lightforce  to Overland Warehouse and Toytec lifts, Not to mention ALL OF THE OTHER VENDORS I am forgetting. Im sure most of this wouldn't be possible without the generous vendors. Well at least the raffle part.
Also Thank you to SPLASH CAFE for the AWESOME Clam Chowder !!

To all the new faces I met : Nice meeting you all !! It was great putting a face to the names I've been chatting with on here for the last year, Bob, Ken, Mike, Kevin and everyone else !! Dan, Really glad you could make it out !

I think that is it so here is my report, And what your waiting for, The pics :D

Friday morning I think I was out of the door by 7am ish ? From here in Temecula I had a 278 mile drive, and I didnt want to miss a second of all the action !!

I got there around 1 and had camp up by 2, I dont really know what else happened after that on friday :headscratch: (no I was not under the influence)

Saturday morning started off the norm, Breakfast then the group photo.

Left to right: Troy, Jason, Me
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN1340.jpg

After the group shot Me, Troy, Jason and Kevin decided we all wanted to do the GPS challenge together so we headed to camp bought our raffle tickets and got out swag and then headed out.

This is the first pic of our challenge. Kevin (crinale) decided to get stuck and blame it on me slowing down. So I said hey its not my fault you dont have a locker :tongueout:
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN1344.jpg

Like I said I had a blast, I had a smile on the whole time
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN1346.jpg

A few of the other guys we saw while doing the challenge
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN1351.jpg

I didnt get the FJ guys name, But him and milton (silver 05+) tagged along with us on the challenge..
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN1352.jpg

For the challenge we had to get a picture of the trucks by the water
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN1358.jpg

That was the end of the challenge, I think we finished in 2 Hours 45 mins or close to that.

After that we chilled out at camp and just relaxed and talked trucks (what else would we talk about ?)

Then Troy, Jason, Kevin and Myself decided to head out for another last run before dinner and sunset. Kevin also wanted to mob up his GF's CRV (BAD IDEA)
Me :

Troy and I hitting a Half bowl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNoI3mTwiW4

After that Kevin over heated the Torque converter on the CRV, It ended up having to be towed back to camp.. Milton was generous enough to let Kevin borrow his FlatBed and I think they got it home some time today

After this little run we headed back to camp and had some SPLASH CAFE Clam Chowder. DAMN THIS STUFF IS GOOD !!
Kimmi and Troy, The love birds :tongueout:
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN1366.jpg

After that there was the Raffle, Tons of vendors donated prizes. Some of the more noteable ones were :
Sliders from Maching fab
200$ Gift card to Stubbs welding (congrats Nick !!)
Gift cards to Toytech Lifts
Striker 170's from Lightforce   ( I Ended up winning a set of the 170's  with the wiring harness, I also won a bunch of gift cards from the maker of ready welder and pull pal)
There was also Coil spacers and BJ spacers from SDORI (Congrats Kevin, Even though you already have a lift)
An air compressor from Overland Warehouse

Im forgetting alot of things..
TONS AND TONS of more prizes.. Again THANK YOU TO ALL THE VENDORS for making the raffle kick ass

After the raffle there was a Night Run, I got shotty with Lance
Fun time, Thanks for that ride Lance, That was a blast !!
During the night run we were collecting the markers from the GPS challenge. I think we had one blown bead that we got reseated and Mike almost rolled sideways down a hill..

Then there was the fire afterwards..
Javi is out there to give you a scale..
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/FIRE.jpg
That thing was huge, We had to get rid of all the firewood so we just piled it on.
I think Lance, Chris, Bob, Javi, Kevin and I were up till 2:30 :screwy:

ANYWAY
I think thats about it
Here's all the swag I made away with

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/Sycosurfer150/DSCN1369.jpg

Cant wait to get these 170's mounted up

I hope everyone had a safe trip home
Cant wait till next year guys !!!

Hey guys SiRMarlon here...sorry I didn't get a chance to personally meet anyone face to face, but we had setup camp over between pole 12 and pole 13. Anyway I didn't really get a chance to take that many pictures because most of the Events were held before we even got up  So we pretty much did our own thing. For some reason I got hammered with stomach cramps all weekend and it was taking a toll on me on Saturday so I wasn't really in a mood to walk around with my camera. I did manage to get some fucken Awesome Jumps of Paul!! Gotta give that guy credit! He takes the cake when it comes to catching air!! Anyway here you go...

Wow, awesome pics.

Abig thanks to Chris & April, Lance and Bob and all the vendors and other helpers for making this such a successful event. Bob, we all expect to see those churros again next year! And a big thanks to Mike for driving me around all weekend since I still hadn't recovered well enough to drive my 4Runner just yet. It was great to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones.

Now keep those pictures coming!

Hey Brandon, welcome to UY. Haha, yeah, that fog with the night run was insane! I seriously almost called off the whole night run gps thing on the way to the first check point. Honestly everyone did great on it, I thought we were going to get a lot more stuck trucks out there because we couldn't see ANYTHING.

Thanks again for a fun event. Thanks again Lance for the recovery and Bob for the axle housing. I'll get some pictures uploaded here before too long. I had a Vroom chew, or whatever they are called, on the way home and couldn't fall asleep. I spent the time with the wife and daughter instead on the computer.

I think I'll get around the cleaning everything this week but first I have to track down all the new noises in the 4runner. What I thought was a bumper noise might actually be a radiator noise :(

I'm thinking I'm going to use the money prize from the 50/50 raffle to get some HID goodies and to go to lunch today.

Well folks, I just got home about 10 minutes ago. Flight was great, but the last flight was pretty bumpy. Nothing like screaming people and spilled drinks to end a trip on! BTW, Lance, the flyaway shuttle was an awesome idea.

It was really great to see everybody again, and it was awesome to meet all the new folks as well! Thanks to Lance and Chris for organizing such a great event, and thanks to Sean and his g/f for their awesome hospitality! Bob, thanks for the churros!

great to see everyone after taking a 1 yr hiatus on anything resembling off roading :) especially nice to see some folks that were at the first Pismo 4RJ (old name) back 7 years ago. you know who you all are, ya old farts! :D

i would have to say without a doubt that chris and lance really made this event what it was this year. events like this year's trip this take tons thought, patience, and most of all, time. just try organizing 5 people but 50 trucks, people and vendors...that takes alot of effort! so great job guys for doing all the heavy lifting.

I didn't take my large camera this year because every time I take it to the dunes it gets more and more sand in it. Just my old point and shoot and minimal time in the dunes.

yea that did stink. he was on the gps challenge with our group. he wailed a dune with his driver front quarter and bowed it up.

And on my way out to LAX, I flew over on this (picked this flight just for the plane). Hard to tell the scale in this picture, but the engines are huge...each GE engine puts out just about twice the thrust of Delta's PW 747 engines. :D This is currently the longest range commercial aircraft flying:

I've posted elsewhere but just wanted to say thanks to everyone. Chris and Lance do an awesome job, I can't imagine how many logistics must go into this event. It was great to see faces I haven't wheeled with for the longest time - nice to feel the connection rolls on tho.

On behalf of Overlandwarehouse.com I'd also like to thank everyone who swung by and either bought, browsed or offered words of encouragement on our new venture. We are small but sincere in trying to develop a really good range of products at outstanding prices for the offroad community, and we aim to treat every customer as a friend. We feel privileged to be associated with Pismo Jam 09.

I hope the damaged vehicles get repaired with minimal cost and frustration to their owners. I feel really sorry for the yellow FJ. Hope to hear the outcome of the repairs.

Once again, thanks everyone, a great trip!

Also, Vanna's exhaust snapped off just behind the cat and the front passenger tire rolled the bead, has a small leak and suspect sidewall bulge.

Also don't forget about the jeep rubicon that came with one of the 120 guys that bent its front axle. You could insert Jeep joke here, but I'm pretty sure a toy 8" front would have bent too.

Yes it is! I towed a dead scout out of the dunes once. It had full hydro steering, which since it was dead, meant it had hardly any steering. The owner was sweating his ass off from trying to steer by the time we got it to the pavement. At one point, we had to daisy chain another vehicle to get it up one dune and out to the beach.

Sorry this has taken so long to get around to doing, I had a lot of catching up to do for stuff I've been neglecting while getting this event ready.

First off I want to thank my wife April for putting up with all this (especially considering our 6th wedding anniversary was that weekend). Lance for all his help, doing the website, designing the tees, stickers, etc.., Bruce for holding down the fort on Thursday night and his help throughout the event, Bob and Dan for their help at the booth, Masa and group for feeding Me and Lance (I don't think we would have stopped to eat had it not been for you making us stop), Becky and Jason for going with me to get the chowder and helping serve it, Milton, Leo, and Marlon for taking professional pics throughout the event, the tundra stop guys for helping me bag up all the raffle prizes at the last minute, and everyone else who lent a helping hand throughout the weekend. I think I could go on forever, so many people helped out!

Next is a HUGE THANKS to all our sponsors, without their generous support, this event would have been impossible to pull off. Be sure to remember these sponsors when it comes time to mod your rig. I want to give a special thanks to those sponsors who were able to come out and participate in the event. Overland Warehouse, Machine Fab, Roxie Market and Deli, TundraStop, and Rolling Big Power all had a presence out there. Thanks for your support and coming out to play!

Last but not least, I want to thank everyone who came out and participated! From what I saw, everyone behaved themselves and went home safe (some rigs might not have been the same afterwards but everyone was safe). J It was great to see everyone, and I hope you all had as much fun as I did. Thanks so much for picking up after yourselves when it was time to go home. There was one site that we had to pick up after, but other than that, everyone else left it cleaner than they found it.

Enough with the mushy stuff, here are some of my highlights:

1. Meeting some really cool people, making new friends, and getting to hang out with old friends. It was a really cool group of people out there!
2. The GPS Game, I had fun setting it up, and I hope everyone who participated in it enjoyed it. You should have got a decent tour of the dunes by doing the whole thing and probably burned up a decent amount of fuel as well ( I know I did). Haha! We will have it again next year, make it better, and change it up some. Expect harder challenges at the gps points and have your digital cameras ready. J
3. The tech seminars: these got a little messed up due to having a major recovery going on right during the time that these were supposed to happen. Thanks to Bruce and Lance though for still finding time to give quite a few people instructions and watching them plug holes in my old trailer tire. There actually were quite a few small tech seminars during a few recoveries and some in camp while people were trying to fix their rigs. One in particular happened during the night run and would have been much harder without all the demo gear from HiLift and Powertank. It made for a nice mini tech seminar and showed how nice it can be to have the right tools for the job.
4. The group photo was really cool to see (although some people just cant’ get up that early), we still had almost 50 rigs show up for the 9am photo. The corresponding jumpfest afterwards was fun, with Bruce giving the crowd a show with his leaning jump.
5. The raffle was amazing. We had some very generous vendors and had a ton of prizes to get through. Thanks to everyone for sticking with it and helping us get through it as quickly as possible.
6. The night run to pick up the gps points was fun, crazy, and scary, all at the same time because of the fog. I seriously almost called it off on the way to pick up the first point, it was that foggy. Thanks to everyone who made it out with us, there was one time I looked back and all the rigs with their lights on in the fog looked really cool. We had one rig that busted a bead on its front passenger tire, which we were able to get fixed and keep going. Other than that, I think there was only one other time that a strap came out, and that was just to steady a vehicle so it could straighten out on a dune. I couldn’t believe that we didn’t have more stucks out there that night. Props to all you for some great driving!
7. Masa’s steaks were awesome!
8. I took the van for a quick spin on Sunday after she was all loaded to go home. Apparently I had a pretty bad exhaust leak and the exhaust ended up snapping off right behind the catalytic convertor! I also lost a bead on the front passenger tire, didn’t notice it right off, and may have ruined that tire (its got a real suspect little side bulge thing on it now).
9. I had a blast and can’t wait for next year. We hope to see everyone again next year. We have already had conversations on how to make next year’s event even better. We learn more and more each year. Thanks again to all the participants and sponsors!
10. Carnage! We definitely had some carnage out there. Huge props to those who had carnage, for how they handled it and to those who helped them out and made sure they made it back safe. I’ll try to list what I can remember. FJ Cruiser with a blown rear diff, 2nd gen 2 door 4runner with a burnt up clutch, FJ Crusier with some crush zone damage and a busted rearview camera, some busted beads on tires, CRV with a possible smoked tranny, dented skid plates, and sand everywhere! ;)

For those that didn’t know, the event store is back up and running on the website with shirts and stickers. Due to high demand, we ran out of the smaller sizes. Contact me or Lance this next week if you want to get a shirt in one of the sizes that we ran out of. I think we’re going to be able to do another small run of tshirts, we just need to know who wants what.

PICTURES!!!! We would love it if you could send us your pictures from the event. The website http://pismojamboree.com has the contact info for that. We need pics to send in to the magazine and to send to our sponsors.

Also, for those that won raffle prizes, please send us a picture throughout the year when you install or use your winnings. These will be great for the website and to send to the sponsors.

Is it time for the next one yet? Haha. I/We had a great time. Forgot my damn camera though! Forgot pillows too! Oh well. It was good seeing the old faces. Not sure if you guys enjoyed seeing me though. Haha. Didnt meet any new faces. Guess thats what I get for selling the 4Runner and buying a damn Titan. So incase anyone wants to put a face to my username, I was the heavily tattooed, mohawk wearing dude with the heavily tattooed Wife, with the cutest 3.5 year old daughter ever, with the silver Titan with the pissed off ass German Shepherd and Chihuahua. Haha. :flipoff: I think you guys can figure things out by that description.

So I won a Toyota related gift certificate from Revenge Fab that I have no use for, so look for that in the marketplace sometime soon. My buddy Gabe (Blue FJ) won a set of sliders which he promptly gave to me. Yep, a set of Tacoma Double Cab sliders from Machine Fab will be going on my Titan. :headscratch: So at some point I will get around to welding those on. Looking forward to it. And I think thats about it.

Oh, one more thing. As we were leaving, the Wife looked over at me and called me a dumb ass. Not too surprising, but I asked why just for the hell of it. She said, "For selling your damn 4Runner" I then laughed a bit and before I knew it we were making plans to sell the VW Touareg and buy another 4Runner. Not gonna happen just yet, but it will for sure be taking place. Hell, maybe even a 5th Gen. Stoked on that. Knowing that another 4Runner is in the foreseeable future is a good thought. But for now the house we just bought is going to take our money for a little while. Gotta get a few projects out of the way before all my money starts going back into my vehicles. :hillbill:

 Colin, it was nice to see you again, we missed you last year. Haha, you're right, your daughter is pretty damn cute and that german shepherd was pissed off!

You may want to check with revenge fab, he may do other stuff besides toyotas, but I'm not sure.

That's cool to hear that you may be trying to get back into a 4runner.

Yeah, I was bummed when we couldnt make it last year. We will definitely make a point of never missing it again. And Coco (German Shepherd) wasnt pissed off. She just likes to talk a lot. Really. She can be way scary at times, especially with people she dosent know, and people that are uneasy around her, but she is truly the best dog we have ever had. Such a lover too. I dont think she had too much fun though. She just wanted to stay in the back of the truck. She prefers her own space, and not too many people. Typical German Shepherd, very territorial, and very protective of her family. But the little man Gizmo (Chihuahua) had a blast. He has taken after Coco a bit though and likes to torment people. Haha. Kinda cute though. That little bastard.

Chris,
I was there. One of the LC guy know that I drive a 4runner and told me that you are there. It was Saturday night. I was looking for you to say "Hi" but couldn't find you. I camped close to the So.Cal FJCruiser folks. I ran the dune with Vegas FJ folks all Saturday morning.
