View Full Version : Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac
Anyone used these tires? Thoughts / opinions?
It's basically down to these or revo's for me right now...
Thanks in advance

No experience with the Goodyears but I've got Revos now. I'm pretty hard on them so I have an excuse to get some BFG's. My 4runner came with the Revos 2 years ago and they are great tires. The wear great, have given me the traction I need and are quiet.

im thinking the DuraTracs in 33" will be my next tire... they are more off-road oriented than the Revos... especially since Bridgestone just redesigned the Revos to be the "Revo 2"... they look even less aggressive (at least in pictures, i havent seen them in person)...
If 90% of your driving is on the road, the Revos are probably the best road tire iv ever had... quiet, awesome traction in all situations (dry, wet, standing water, snow, black ice etc)
If you do more off road driving, i think the DuraTracs are the way to go... they are also WAY cheaper...
hmm yeah I am undecided between the 2. I like the look and so far the reviews of the duratracs. The revos just look kind of boring, but I know they're a good tire.
What's the difference between a Revo and a Revo 2?

My first impression: this is an A/T??? Wow, these things are aggressive. Gnarly sidewall, big chunky lugs and a rim edge guard? Not your average A/T.
These tirese have a really stiff sidewall. After my lift I really appreciate this though, it definately makes the truck feel "planted". It's not enough to jar you over bumps, but they aren't "washy" feeling either.
They are also much heavier than the Michelins I had on my truck before. I have noticed that on long hills and quick starts my truck has a little tougher time keeping up. I expected this, so no worries there!
They also have a bit of a "whine" to them. Not a Super Swamper howl, but they aren't Potenza quiet either. I also expected this, so it's cool!
I chose this tire because I wanted something aggressive. They were cheaper than any of the M/T's I liked and better looking than the A/T's. I knew that they would ride stiffer and be louder than my old tires. I also knew that I'd lose a little power going up a size.
My $.02-- If you want a smooth quiet tire, don't buy these. If you want a tough truck tire, go for it! Cant beat the look!

they tweaked the tread some, and it looks like they made the voids smaller...
this is bridgestone's site dedicated to the tire, lots of comparisons between the two, although its probably a bit biased being from the company itself...
