My mufler is gone and need replacement. I looked for cat-backs, but can't find any for my truck, therefore I found that some manufactures have cat-backs for '96-'99, but not '00-'02. All those years are 3rd Gen. 4Runners, but somehow aftermarket differ them.
Is there any changes in 2000 model I'm not aware of? Would '99 exhaust work on '01 Limited?

As an alternative, does anyone knows a good mufler to replace the original? I'm not in the noise, but would like to have a nice sound as well. I know Magnaflow has loud muflers. I have Gibson cat-back on my '05 and love it...

Just put in a 24" magnaflow muffler p/n 12286. There's another guy who put a walker muffler on to replace stock here on ultimateyota.

I also have the 12286. It sounds deeper than the OEM muffler overall and has a mild growl upon acceleration. It really roars when you drive WOT.

I've had it for about 2 years now I think and it's began to drone a little too much. I think I will be going with a Walker Quietflow muffler when I have the money. On the other hand - the Magnaflow is stainless steel and the Walker is aluminzied steel - I think the latter is worse for standing up to rust? Not sure.

x3 on the Magnaflow 24". It has a nice low tone that isn't as intense as the 18". There is a little resonation at low speeds, but nothing too bad.

Nick, FWIW a friend of mine recently put in a Walker Quietflow on his Tacoma, he loves it.
