a couple of zuks and a jeep came up on us on the trail head when we were about to leave. they seemed to stay pretty far back (i think more joined, as there was quite a crowd for us crossing the rock garden the incorrect way) continued up. going up the switchbacks, we happened upon a couple of deer grazing on the mountain side!

no major snags until i prematurely entered the rock garden (go ahead, make your jokes). had to make a 57 point turn to get turned around and at least pointed in the right direction. as i was leaving i got high centered on a pretty good sized rock, crushing my fuel tank and muffler. after that it was a nice sunday ride. after departing from scott at the end of gold mountain, alexus and i continued onto jacoby canyon and onto highway 18. after that we enjoyed lunch at mountain munchies(mmmMMMMMmmmm tasty!).
carnage list:
trashed fuel tank skid
dented fuel tank
fuel sender reads "super full"
re-aimed rack light thanks to a low branch
rock rash underneath
i would also like to add: to all those naysayers that dont like my snorkel and think i will never use it. today i did. while traveling down jacoby canyon, we encountered a rather deep water crossing. i made sure to walk it before, to make sure i could safely cross. upon entering the water, i was sure glad i had made this purchase! the water, at its deepest, came nearly up to where the tread lugs turn into sidewall!!! we were both very afraid we were not going to make it! luckily the 4runner pulled through and did not ingest any water, thanks solely to my trusty snorkel!!!
