Just throwing it out there.

Is anyone interested in helping me install a Cornfed lift kit on my '04 4Runner with Xreas?

I don't have the necessary tools or space to do the job. I'm in Santa Barbara CA, but would travel a little bit for help with this project. I'm new to the west coast and don't have many friends out here yet.

Thanks.

-Leon

You might want to get a hold of Milton. He's a bit north of ya in Santa Maria but he's got a bunch of tools and a bunch of great guys that can definitely help you out.

Get a hold of slosurfer (chris) and see if he can get a hold of Milton for ya and work something.

Lift on a 4th gen w/ or w/o xreas is a piece of cake.

good luck!

i just did this with a couple friends (ocean state crawlers)

it's pretty straight forward, you just have to watch the tension on the xreas lines and lay it down in the wheel well.

milton doesnt check this site very often... he is a very busy guy. with the lift you bought, what needs to be done? are the coilovers already built or do u need to put them together? i have done all my own suspension work both on the 4runner and my CR-V, with tools i have, and some rented from autozone...

Oops, yeah, I forgot to update. I got a hold of him the other day. He's going to see if we can do it at his buddies house (where they work on his racetruck). Only problem is that I think it's going to have to be after the 22nd. If it works out though, I think we can get a wrenching party going for after the 22nd.

haha.. if its the guy im thinking of, there are 3 race trucks in his yard... haha his own ford ranger, milton's taco, and another older taco that hes building for a guy...

that sounds good. In the meantime, can i run 33" tires at stock height if I am just driving in the city?

i would guess not, no, but I don't know for sure.

I have a 1" lift in front and the 32's fit good with no rubbing, but are REALLY close. No lift / stock and 33's I'd imagine you'd get a lot of rubbing in the front fenders.

The back looks like it might let you get away with it.

if you are willing to cut up ur trim a bit, im sure the 33s will probably fit.. but i dont know how much ud have to cut

I guess I'll just wait and bring them up to the wrench day with me and cut the fenders up there. thanks!

I recently lifted my '03 Sport Edition w/ X-reas with a 3" front, 2" rear spacer lift. It wasn't too bad to do, just kinda tricky at first. I had it up on a lift which helped out greatly. The only suggestion I have (I don't know if your directions say this or not, mine didn't) when putting the springs with the spacer back on, put the top of the spring in first, then work the bottom into the a-arm. MUCH, MUCH EASIER!!!

ordered wheels and tires and they are scheduled to be here Thursday. Next wednesday/thursday I have someone lined up to help me with the install of the lift. Now to figure out what to do with the wheels/tires in the meantime so they don't get stolen... I don't really feel like lugging 400lbs of wheels/tires up 2 flights of stairs, but I may have to.

There's no way I can put them on the truck right? 285/70/17

i fit 4 285/75r16 in the back of my 3rd gen (similar sized tire). wasnt easy but they fit.

Sean he's talkin about fitting them ON the truck and not IN the truck.

Leon, the 285's won't fit w/o the lift and lots of trimming.

Good luck!

psh, details! who needs em!?

i still say just pile them in the back of the truck. ipods are easy to snatch out of a car. 4 33" tires with wheels, not so much!

With a nice thick piece of glass and 2 stacks of 2 tires, you can make a :smokin: coffee table.

Have you done the instal yet? Pix? Nic choice in tires - I have the nittos too (34's") and have been very happy with them so far.

I was thinking the doggy was thinking "Cool - now I don't have to go downstairs to take a piss on a wheel. Thanks Dad!"

Yup. All set up.

The wheels are 17"x9" -10 offset. I had to remove the front mudflaps, cut out some of the inner wheel-well plastic, and trim off the corners of the front bumper. While I was at it I lost the granny steps too.

It feels great on the road but I haven't been offroad. yet. :)

Really like the black wheel look. What kinds of wheels are they and how much did they run?
