:D
Not sure if this can be fixed or not...but when I press on the gas pedal of my 92 4x4 v6 pick up it is like pushing on a brick! I never noticed it before, but had to swap vehicles with a friend and he complained about it, now I notice it...any suggestions? Is this normal or ?? Can I make an adjustment to make it easier to depress the pedal?
Thanks!

Sounds like my wife when she has to drive the 4runner since she drives the tacoma. "I forgot how hard you had to press the gas pedal in this thing!" I don't think there's much you can do about it. Some triggers, err.. gas pedals, just have a tougher pull. :)

Yeah, my 4Runner is the same way. I'm used to it now, and it doesn't really bother me. It does get tiring on long trips, especially with the wonderful cruise control we have.

not sure you'd really want to fix it if you consider that it would require a lighter spring on the throttle body - a lighter spring might mean the throttle closes slower when you back off the go-pedal, or worst case the throttle sticks part open
I guess if you really wanted to, you could put a tension spring on the very top of the accelerator pedal, near where the cable connects, so it would help pull the pedal down - but again, at your own risk
My T100 is the same way, throttle body spring is tight. Cant really do much about it.

Same on my 3rd Gen 4Runner.
Though I must admit my stepdad's is lighter.
I might have to look into the difference....

Yeah, they do tend to be stiffer pedals than most other cars. It's hard to say if your pedal is stiffer than normal.

Any of you even consider greasing the cable and inside the housing?
Just an idea. ;)

I like it tight!
oh snap!
if you really wanted, you could either grease the cable or just spray some wd-40 down the sleeve. that should help

yeah, because i need ANOTHER reminder! as if the sluggish acceleration, dastardly handling, and poor fuel economy weren't enough

ROFL..you'rs only weight 2k, try closer to 3-1/2 easily. Mine's already at 3998 w/ the armor/etc. Used two different scales just to be sure.
Buddie's is at 5659, both before we're loaded up with easily 500lbs worth of camping and travel gear each.

Considering 2 tons is 4,000 lbs. (not 2K :shake:), then I guess he was pretty close.

This is one area of the truck i suggest not messing with. Sure, you can try to lube it up a bit, but I suggest dealing with it. If you want a light/peppy peddle, I'll point you towards cars.
A sticking accelerator is not something you ever want to deal with.
