So I ordered a T.G. tube bumper a couple weeks ago and true to their reputation UPS lost it and it was missing for a week anyway it showed up today and here's where the driver left it( seems the driver knew where it belonged)

After checking it out for a few minutes and seeing the nice weld job done on it it was time to

Add a little primer

Then a little Black paint (will be powder coated after all the mods I have in mind for it are done just don't it to rust till then)

And a few bolts

NOTE:
It fits pretty well but if they added about 1/8 more space to where the the side mounts are welded into place it would slide into place with no issue's, I had to wiggle and pry a little to get it where it needed to be to get all the bolt holes to line up correctly again I did this with no help so it is not that hard at all to do yourself only needed a ratchet , 14 & 19mm socket's and a small pry bar to completely install this bumper.

After I had it mounted with a few bolts I ran and picked up a few more and some lock washers and flat washers at the hardware store to have all 8 mounting points securely mounted, at the same time I decided I will be adding two more mounts so I can tie it into the body mounts as well but it really is over kill because this thing is solid with just the 4 mounting points they designed into it.

I am really impressed how well it follows the body lines for a mass produced bumper and not a custom built one check it out.

After I finished installing all the bolts and lock washers it was time for some

Gratuitous Posing shots

On Tuesday I will be adding the two mounts for the body mounts and 4 light stands for the 4 6" 130 watt KC'S I will be adding to the bumper for improved night time vision  and although it looks like poop because all I have is paint to edit with here's a pic with the idea of how I will be setting the lights up and trust me when I hold up the lights to the area it looks way better, but if anyone has photo shop and can photo shop some lights on it for me or has another idea and can photo shop it up with my idea I would be very grateful.

My Idea of how to mount the lights

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x275/fifty5panhead/lights.jpg

Total time to actually mount was 30 mins one man after the paint dried and the trip to the hardware store including a couple pics posing in their parking area after buying the new 8.8 bolts and washers they really did a good job of making this thing a very simple yet sturdy and strong bumper for anyone to mount I give them a 9 on the total bumper design welds and ease of install worth the $330 I paid for it shipped to my 4runner :hillbill: no doubt in my mind.

{Warning: Not a TG Bumper but the tech still applies.}

*If you decide to go ahead and trim up around the front body mount, you can also undo the 10mm nut that's up below the corner marker and move your turn signal wires up out of harms way for when you either integrate them into the corners or relocate your signals onto the bumper. (Or do like I did here then find a sweet set of 92 Corolla Markers.)

~If you look closely you can also see where I ended up moving my AC fan (fan that's under the right side of the grille) resistor over to the right, shortening the wiring and keeping it from getting cracked or damaged by the winch plate at any point. Another thing to consider is an AC condenser shield. I'll post a pic if you like when mine's done, basically a piece of 3" pipe sliced in half with a bracket that'll bolt up around to protect it also.

[O/T..one of these days we should chat about Arlen, good people, great shop. Just 20 minutes away from me. )

Looks great. Impressive work with the one man install. That must have made things quite a bit more difficult.

I've heard other people complain that the bumper obstructs the headlights too much. In addition, the bumper will reflect that headlights back into your face. Have you noticed this at all?

I can't speak for the TG bumpers, but my old brush gaurd on my Tacoma reflected headlights into my face awful, but the bumper on my '84 does not. Paint that thing semi-gloss or satin black, and voila, no reflection.

They're pretty easy to do the one man installs with from what I dealt with on with mine and a couple others. A floor jack and dremel or air bit do help immensely though. Now as for fishing the inner plate into the rear frame, while trying not to crush your knuckles with the outer mounts is a whole other story, probably why TG went with them being a blot to the frame then blot to the bumper affair, a lot easier IMHO for one person to do.

As for reflecting back, you'll find a good flat black paint job will decrease the reflect immensely.

Why Thanks, but that go's on the other 4runner(The 1990, 1/4 steel weighs 250 lbs plus 80 for the winch not sure the little 22re would like it that much )and with the super charged 3.4 with the full U.R.D. treatment ( 7th injector, pulley's, and stand alone ecu ) makes for a very good deer and :asshat:'s on the road deterrent/slayer ,and as for you scuba not trying to out do you just keep up with the scubinator! :tongueout:

I have not had the problems you asked about with this bumper but if I get the reflection issue I will flat black it on the back side at least to combat it but when I go to get it powder coated I am going to go flat black so it will be a non issue anyway
