OK, OK...Save the heckling, I know it's a Jeep...

I need to add an additional steering stabilizer to this thing due to the poor location used by the factory rendering the upgraded unit in the stock position ineffective. The steering stabilizer is mounted between the tie-rod and the axle on the WJ Grand Cherokee, rather than between the drag link and the axle like on the XJ/ZJ/TJ Jeeps - hence the high incidence of DW on lifted WJ's.

There is only one company that makes an aftermarket kit that will fit my JKS trackbar, so I've got to come up with something on my own since they are gouging everyone (plus they make you buy their SS - I just want the hardware)

I don't know what they are called, but the ideal piece would be the pinch clamps used on TRE'S (unless spreading them to slip over the tube would be tough). No one sells these separate, nor do they sell them by dimension - it's all by application which would make getting the right ones tough.

I don't want to use the hokey flat plate with two U-Bolts that you see on every lifted full size truck. I want something factory looking.

Here's a pic of the "other guy's" solution (bottom is the stock position between tie rod and axle, top one is between drag link and track bar - this is what I want to add):

Oh, and here's the victim...

Sorry Mike, I haven't worked on any FIAT's in a while. ;)

"DW"..drivetrain wear or you meant WWJD?

It's just a "tie rod clamp". ie: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995_4Rnr/Toyota.4Runner.1990.1995/FSM/95toypdf/95rmsour/1995/954runne/sr/steer/steering.pdf

To answer your question, yes, you can just use a tie rod clamp, just be sure you use a decent grade nut and bolt and that it isn't rotated wrong. Consider when it is all done and you're sure it's placed right, throwing a quick weld bead on it to keep it from possibly rotating if the nut were to loosen slightly. You can just measure the o.d. of the track bar then simply hit up a local auto recycler w/ your veneer caliper and find the right one. The yard will likely just look at you and say "Take it, not worth ringing up."

You might find some sweet Toyota stuff in the process. :tongueout:

I know it's for a JK but something built off of this:

Imho very simple fix.

Duplicate the clamps by cutting a pipe in half and either weld it on or clamp it on using some bolts. You will have to build up a weld bead or add a pc of something on each end so you can make it look like what mike linked tho.

Course a tie rod clamp you modify might be best, idk.

Buying seems easier, but making is always fun.

I wish those were cheaper! Those were the first thing I thought of...

I have no problem having something milled if it would be something I can sell for a reasonable price. Time to put the thinking cap on...

If mcmaster doesn't have it, it doesn't exist.

Of course, my company just decided to remove mcmaster from the approved vendor list. :shake:
