My 92 toyota 4 runner is starting to act up . i have a 35 mile 1 way trip to work then back . It runs great then when i am either almost home or almost at work it starts to buck and act like it wants to stall . it doesnt shut off , but it does slow down alot . then it slowly builds speed back up . it has the 3.0 v6

maybe a fuel problem?

Fuel tank sediments blocking the fuel pick up maybe? Bad fuel filter? I'm with Sean though, it sounds like a fuel problem.

BTW, I've been to Winona, MS. :D

You both beat me to it. When was the last time the system had new filters and a flush of the system and injectors?

Injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter-yes fuel problem.

Start by changing the fuel filter. Blow thru it to check after its off (WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT WELL AFTERWARDS or use a compressor) to make sure it did have flow-if it feels unrestricted then it wasnt you problem.

thank you . i just bought this truck november 13 th so i am limited on funds . that is why i have not done my usual new vehicle purchase set up . i usually change all the filters , oil , wiper blades and coolant . right now i have only been able to do the blades , air filter ( which the old one was stuffed with about an 1/4 inch of rock hard mud ) and the coolant . I am going to try the fuel filter my next day off . this is my first import period so i was wondering if all the usuall tricks still work on these too

I have an early 95 4runner and whether hot or cold it would stall on take off but not completely shut off. Almost like someone was turning truck off then on. It turned out to be mass air sensor. $160 for rebuilt one and it's been 2.5 months and not one stall. but my gas mileage still sucks.

In whatever section you need to start a new thread, there should be a "new topic" button in the upper right hand corner, near the "notify" and other buttons. Once you click the "new topic" button, you will be able to start your own thread.
