Looks like the bean counters are going around and sending off C.A.D.'s to sites and making them pull their online diagrams.

Way to impress me and many others who've done a lot of work uploading the stuff.

re: http://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/341453-sucks-diagrams-gone-toyodiy-com.html#post5049669

* ;) I'm glad I own all my stuff and can put it into whatever form I so desire, know what I mean. ;) ;)

[If you don't get the hint, pm me.]

Toyota if you're reading this, f*ck your little bean counters, if it is over "x" years old it is then publicly accessible information that I can goto the library, check out and also do what I need with. There is no longer any copyright infringement if I own it and have a receipt for it! :tapedshut:

*Sorry everyone, but I have been a part in most of this stuff in some form or another from most of the sites I have linked into replies and posts. It is not something I did for profit or notoriety, it is something I participated in out of love for our vehicles and community, and it is not cool that I, and all of us involved in this are being repaid like this.

Merry F-in Christmas to us, from your ever loving Toyota Motors Corporation. :chair:

**As most of us know, information on the net is never lost,

Do Not Discuss Specifically Available Club Information in here, because that might very well be the next spot that they hit with a C.A.D.!

~Sorry for the rant, but we're really pissed.. over 4 years worth of hard work, now publicly inaccessible to our co-forum friends.

 The NorCal's and Friends (*All former Tech's and Plant Assembly Workers.)

This blows or sure..

Yeah, today the day I find out about this I have to sit at the parts counter for 45 mins to get 3 seperate body clips and a gasket for the shift lever retainer..

Coulda taken 10 mins over the phone if I had those part numbers. Way to waste your own employees time, Toyota.. Guarantee the guy that helped me today coulda helped at least 5 other people in the time it took him to help just me..

They've gone so far as to even block certain individual laptop ip addresses so they cannot login to the tech page from their laptops. This, for example in a shop that needs the laptop to function for a road test. Not to mention what I just found out about their not giving adequate information to backup the coursework in their training program through a local college.

Far from what I believe to be at the heart of "Kaizen". I wish I could say a lot more of what I've seen going on, but this thread is enough to let people know the basics.

Post up if you support clubs, etc being able to do what we are supposed to have been allowed to do all along, and not let Toyota Motor Sales dictate the exact opposite of what Toyota Motor Corporation allows, just because we're in the U.S. doesn't mean that you can ignore your parent company's direction.

That or corporate is just turning a "Blind Eye" to all of this..FWIW I am certain one big dealership in this area was involved in all of this as they've suposedly been "asking" to keep the page printouts "for order verifications". Not too hard to pul a copy or just "loose your paper printout", highlight the ip address from the bottom of the page and turn it into the offices as a form of "loss of profit due to blah-blah-blah".

Another reason I only go through our approved, supporting dealership for the club. :shake:

so there was info out that toyota intended only for there dealer/repair sites/tech schools? and now they have taken efforts to stop that info from being distributed to channels other then they who they intended it to go to?

for what its worth ive always had to buy my tech manuals for everything ive owned. the 4runner is the only thing ive ever been able to "download" one for

Troy, basically the site had all the diagrams for mainly all yota vehicles, it was awesome because we could find the part numbers of certain parts that are hard to know the exact name / description. Toyotadiy was an invaluable resource for us diyers. Sad to see it get locked down like that..

welp i guess toyota wants us to go to the dealer for that info. my local dealer isnt too horrible. i even asked for a bolt by size once and they looked through stock for me.

Troy, that's the point, it wasn't a site that had the manuals or any diy instructions, it just had the diagrams and part numbers that you could look up using your VIN. It was used by DIY'ers who would in turn BUY OEM TOYOTA PARTS using the part numbers. If anything it saved them money as it was less time spent by their employees trying to look up a part I don't know the name of and am having a hard time explaining. TOYODIY was so helpful for odd vehicles like my van, that people don't know anything about (I've been told by many part counter jockies that toyota didn't make a 4wd van with a 2spd tcase :shake:). With toyodiy, I could look up the part number myself and just call it in.

Most the time, I didn't know what the part was called, but with the parts diagrams, I could find it and find the number. (by the way, the crew at NTP are the exception and not the norm, they go above and beyond to help find part numbers  )

oh its gonna suck. i mean id certainly use that kind site myself, but other people shouldnt get too fired up over this like they are. its not a case of blood murder. its the loss of an asset that we weren't supposed to have in the first place right?

i also understand alot of people put alot of work into that site but at the same time i'm sure everyone involved knew that it was not totally on the level and might get the plug pulled sometime down the line.

none of this seems to be an unreasonable outcome, but im surprised toyota would bother since its spread everywhere and over thousands of hard drives. the amount scaned/pdf/whatever for toyotas on the net is astounding. they cant stop torrents thats for sure, cause not even hollywoods had any luck.

That's the thing, it's an asset we already can have, but usually it involves going into the dealership and bugging the parts counter guy and having him check this and that (turning the computer screen so you can see it, etc...) and depending on his/her mood/skill level you are either victorious or walk out frustrated, or worse yet order the wrong part.

Nothing in there was stuff that the public can't see (if you go to a parts counter and try to find a part, they will let you look at the diagrams and try to find your part), but it is much more useful to do at 10pm on your own computer rather than taking time off work to make it in time before the parts counter closes and hope you get someone who is knowledgeable and helpful.

I can see them being upset about online fsm's but I don'tunderstand them being upset about people finding part numbers to TOYOTA PARTS that they will buy! It is no different than going in and finding it except it doesnt cost them anything and it is so much eaise for joe the plumber to find what he needs.

They are, there's a facility right down the street from me, less than 3 blocks away from the Monarch Truck/Hino dealership. I'd love to get a job there, can you say a "Kid in Candyland".

Like I said keep this to ourselves. I betcha any amount of money someone from Toyota came across the old one either by sheer luck or someone squealing.

Glad you like it Scuba.

I betcha any amount of money someone from Toyota came across the old one either by sheer luck or someone squealing.

No bet necessary. As a matter of fact, at one of the dealerships local to here, a really cool tech with a witness had their service director cop to complaining "..to T.M.S.A. and not ging to worry about dealing with those p.i.t.a. Off-Roader and Land Cruiser Club enthusiasts anymore..." as to justification to why a special order for necessary parts for the trip was cancelled. This was on the Friday we all met up with everyone passing through going over to Surf-n-Turf.

Talk about throwing yourself out of a plane without a chute. :screwy:

I am not paraphrasing here, this isn't hearsay, as I was just inside myself and walked out to see the looks on their faces and hear about all of this. Now for two different groups of individuals to have heard similar w/i a two day time span was enough for all of this "group" to feel completely burned by this dealership, switch who we deal with from now on, sign a letter and send it off to T.M.C. Japan.

Sorry if this thread has stirred up folks, pm any q/a instead of posting this up publicly. I already have deleted a couple of my replies for the betterment of the cause.

I am sure with some of us being at dealerships* the dissatisfaction we've now expressed will now be seen and heard and my hope is if you are one of those at a dealership you might have some input on all of this, or even support. Feel free to pm me that if you prefer to remain out of the public eye. (*Two specific people I immediately can think of.)

Again, this sucks, but things go on and intelligence will prevail. I love the two dealerships* and shops that have now stepped up to supporting the club in things and we'll happily send them clientele from now on. (*One of which some here have read or heard me mention numerous times for their level of support.)

So, in closing, just like the trail access issues we face, support those that support us, plain and simple.

anybody using EPC software? I finally got the older version to work and so far so good. it's not user friendly as toyotdiy but I like it as a "stand alone" system that I don't need internet to look it up part numbers.

I got the full version of 3.3gb, but if you only want the US parts likst, it isn't that big.
