So Friday I decided to take a late day at school since I wasn't feeling the hottest.

On my way I had to stop at the bank when I noticed something that I had to do a double take on what I saw:
http://www.lexus.com/images/cpo/IS/2005/vc_cpoIS300SportCross.jpg

And I was like OMG its a Lexus Wagon!!

So I talked to my Toyota instructor who had never heard about it and go goggled it.
Upon a little research I believe we found it was made from 2002-2005 and about only 12000 were made.

I think it is a sexy little car.
If you go to the certified pre-owned section of the Lexus site and click the IS series and then click the year 2005 and then the SportCross comes up as an option.

I think I want one lol its a sweet little ride....

Only thing I don't like is it is rear wheel drive only, AWD would have been a nice competitor

With the 2JZGE inline 6 it would make a helluva sleeper with a bit of work ($4k in a turbo kit could get you some serious power) + even though they're all RWD, many came with a Torsen LSD (same 8" ring and pinion that our trucks use)

I've seen a few of the wagons around, but they are pretty rare. Pretty cool cars.

There are a few IS owners that have swapped in the 1uz engine. One of these guys is running a single turbo and a V160 6spd tranny out of the supra.

Later tonight, I'll see if I can dig up a buildup thread for it. One of those swaps was in a yellow sportcross.

There is a guy I ride bikes with that has one. He says it's a great car. He got it on eBay from Pennsylvania.

I like the fact they basically created the IS430 in the IS350-but I much prefer the older body style liek millen used.

Well, since Daniel's gone a bit out there, hey Cebby, finish your build already so we can see you doing this!

the sport-cross is a nice lookin car... but i have one gripe with it. It was never made with a manual transmission, only the sport-shift autobox... only the sedan came with the manual (and very few of those :-/)

Avy, if that link still isn't working for you, try doing a google search for "bedell racing". Once on the guy's website, click on the "Lexus IS300 V8 swap" in the lower right corner.

really is a fun car to drive through the twisties when it's nice out, very confidence inspiring with just the slightest hint of understeer at the limits of adhesion - in the snow/ice though this stays home and the wife drives the 'runner

My brother has a black on black IS300 with the 5spd manual. It's some sort of special edition that has factory anthracite rims (vary rare) and the darker tail lights. Very nice car. I want one of these as a DD. My favorite is the Sport Design edition in Thundercloud Gray.

Here's a sportcross for sale:

sweet jesus, okay, so next size up would be the 5.7l in the tundra?
what do you say Dan, think we can do it?

DHC6twinotter
02-12-2010, 05:32 PM
That would be awesome, but I think the 5.7 is too wide. There's a guy on lextreme that tried swapping a 5.7 in a SC300, and he said the 5.7 was really really wide and probably wouldn't fit too well. I think it was a case where he had an engineless SC300 and a broke 5.7L sitting around so he thought he would do it for kicks.

I would sure like to see it done. Would be awesome!
