Started off with the pins from ace hardware (5 bucks)

I also went to HD and got a six foot piece of 1/8" angle iron (11.97)

Trimmed the stock flaps.. (before and after)

The rear bolt is the one they are bolted in between

Test fit

Flap connected

I know they need to be painted, I dont have time today, and tomorrow is wheelin. So they will be painted sunday

Also, I know there is a possibility that they can twist front to back with wind from highway driving. If I notice that happening I will make a small tack weld to keep them in place. Once I make a bumper a wraparound support will probably take place of this..

Don't ask me to make you a set when your exhaust pipe burns a bigger hole in your Pside flap :flipoff:

Basically yes, if a certain amount of tire is showing you have to have mudflaps. Well my whole 33" has been showing since the bob/high clearance was done. I suppose I've been lucky enough to not have gotten a ticket over the past few months.. This should do the job. If I get harassed because they aren't big enough, I'll just make some huge ones and write "ASK ME ABOUT MY MUDFLAPS" on them :D

Are those big enough to be considered legal? I thought they had to cover at least the top half of the tire when view from the back.

Here's the vehicle code on mudflaps

Honestly it's up to the next officer that decides to pull me over for whatever reason.. In my last post I optimistically talked about what I would do if I got pulled over again for flaps..
Only time will tell, but I'm going to print that out just so the officer can read it next time.

Ok. Well it was meant to be informative. Being that I am a police officer, I know that if a little punk bitch kid tried to lecture me on the law I would write him a ticket. Usually if the person is cool and not a jackass i'll let them go with a warning. Sorry I have a life and dont care about post counts.

I gotta jump on this one, you say you're an officer and you talk like that? Way to represent, man. *I love meeting guys like you that a family member has to work alongside, they eventually get bumped to desk duty or driven out of that location.

Back on topic though..

I've had to go through the inspection process recently at the main CHP site and heard no complaints whatsoever. It comes down to a judgement call and is IIRC a secondary offense anyhow.

IMHO, knowing the law, how it works, and how to act if you get a ticket, and more so if you fight it and you'll be fine. The way i read that code, I could interpret that my bumper side mount, the tailpipe, and the length of my quarter panels is sufficient enough, same for the front end, sliders and rear skirts are enough.

It just sounded like a jackass thing to say, if it meant to be more informative I dont see how.
And your calling me a little punk bitch kid why ?

And honestly.
Im always nice and respectful to police officers during stops.
Here's how the most recent stop went, it was about a week ago @ 10:45 pm.

I stop on the side of the road, turn on hazards shut off lights and shut off vehicle. Put keys on dash and my hands on the wheel. Officer came up and said

"do you know why I stopped you"
"I said well no not exactly sir."
He said "Well first your licence plate light is out and you have no mudflaps"
Me "Well Im 99% sure there is a working light on the plate, but I wont argue with you sir"
Him "good, it'll be a good night then"

He proceded to ask why I still had texas plates when I have lived in CAL more then a year, my mom us acvtive DOD so thats legal.
He ran my stuff and came back and let me go, No warning, no nothing.

If I get stopped again for the mudflaps being too short well then some officer is having a bad day. I see cars and trucks on the road with just as much tire showing as me and I'm sure they have never had a problem.

Im not one to argue or lecture a cop on the law
But if I can tell he is on a power trip, I will have a slight disregard for his feelings.

Excellent roadside manners Scub ;) - my wife usually goes with exacerbation and attitude then wonders why she never gets away without a ticket :shake:

Good job on the flaps too - I've been thinking about something very similar lately, but mounted off the rear bumper side brace since the stock flaps are too close to the tire for comfort
