Tonight I was standing in line to go see Avatar when my friend got a phone call from a friend who said they were stuck in the mud out at Trabuco Canyon. It was roughly 9 PM. I immediately said I'm down to help with the recovery. We got our tickets refunded, jumped in my truck and ran home. Grabbed all my recovery gear (already in boxes), and some plastic bags (read: mud) and we were on the freeway. Found them about half a mile in to the trail. He was burried in some deep mud up to his axles. I first tried a straight pull and I just slid toward him. I then hooked up my snatchblock and again, still slid. At this time I disengaged 4wd and with my truck in 2wd low and rear locker, I dug my rear tires in. It was smooth sailing from here on out. My camera's focus was broken so the video is fuzzy, but all it is is a video of me winching out a jeep, also using a snatch block. If anything you can totally see the Jeep owner almost eat shit in the mud!

Oh and those that have offroaded with me have probably seen my "Jeep Recovery Vehicle" license plate frame... I earned that today!

Maybe if the quality was better it may be one thing. But honestly, your friend called you for a favor and the first thing you do after helping him is run and post it on the internet? For what?

easy ya'll. Jason just got excited he got to extract a friend in need. Kudos for Jason for dropping what you're doing to help your friend out in need. How often do we find ppl who's willing to drop what they're doing to give a helping hand? If I had the opportunity to help recover someone I'd be online telling about my experiences too (regardless of the mfg of the vehicle).

Would have been nice if you can focus your knucklehead! Or bring a better camera! :flipoff:

Gotta say you definitely earned the "Jeep Recovery Vehicle". Just remember that you'll get stuck and someone else will have their moment too :) I can guarantee that you'll get stuck in Pismo next year! Don't you always? :tapedshut:

I haven't gotten the Taco stuck, yet! Knock on wood somebody...

As for the camera... the last time I used it was at Pismo Surf N Turf and it worked fine. Pulled it out of the glovebox last night to use it and it wouldnt focus. I returned it today and got a new one.

Hey lance, where's my calendar??

Knock on wood? damn that wood better be god cuz I can put $$ down that you'll get stuck in the next 12 months. If not I'll make sure you do :P

Damn you returned it after the fact? ultimate fail! haha jk

calendar? what calendar? I thought I told you you're getting yours last! haha :P I'm picking them up this week to get them out right away so I should get yours out soon. If you can't wait I can meet up and give the copy in person if you want that extra special treatment.

Ha ha, I'm just tired of my boss asking. He got a free calendar from kragen and its got all kinds of chevy and ford stuff on it, if I don't the UY soon they may just adopt the free one as next years, and that would suck!

Not being a hater but, From the video I could not see a winch cable dampner or blanket on the cable. Just curious if I just couldn't see it or if you didn't use one. The guy didn't look like he was in a good position while the cable was under load, especially if the cable wasn't dampened
thanks
Don

Good question I'm not sure what the proper thing to do is. Thanks for clearing that up From the fuzzy video those are things you can't see..
