Post 'em up if you got to play in the snow (need to show the Left Coasters there's more than sand and rocks :D)

Nothing wicked today - it was just myself so I took it relatively easy on some fireroads to see how the KM2s handle at street pressure in the snow. Overall, I'm not disappointed. I can break 'em loose on asphalt, so driving on hard-pack required a light touch on the throttle. I could get a little deeper into it on loose snow and when the rear started to swing wide it was somewhat predictable and easy to control (counter steer through it or just lift a bit and pull the short stick). I left the hubs locked, but only used 4wd to pull the front end around on turns (otherwise it would push)

Damn Keith that's all they got up there?
I am buried in at least a foot or more down here.

I have no pics unfortunately cause I was out later in the dark and the camera was out of Batteries, I go to work soon so I will probably have no pics today either...

I'll take what I can get - I was hoping the storm would move more inland a bit instead of turning north east :(

i do wanna see the east coast stuff! my experience with 4x4 back in Vermont was almost entirely logging roads in the snow. alot of you have gotten a good sized storm too for some nice pics!

Uh oh, just got a txt from Patrick (strykersd) "Do you have daves (dlm) number? Im in deep shlt..."
He was with the group yesterday on the snow run I mentioned earlier. He said he's staying in Big Bear for the weeked and might run gold mountain today. I can't imagine what's up with him being in deep shlt as he's got a winch.. Hopefully Dave can go help
him out..

 Corax, I'll see what is possible this next week when we head up to the 'rents. If Lil'Bro brings his I'm gonna try to con him into a little "Follow the leader".

Not sure if they'll be action or poser as I'm not too keen on having the wife stand outside to take shots. Last I heard it was only a foot more up on Mt. Reba. *Most likely poser as I'm the only good photog in the family.

*You guys will have to wait a few more days for ours while we celebrate this weekend, and I finish up a few more repairs.

Here's a teaser from the around 1000' level, snow's completely melted off the last couple of days. I suspect the next tree I take a shot in front of will have a lot less lighting. :D

Here you go! (finally) No serious action shots as the trail was just packed in by two of us, and there were too many downed trees to waste a lot of time goofing around with the little one bouncing around in the back seat. ;) .

These are on the way back out..

Here are some pics from me:
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/Nighthief/Snow%20Storm%202010/DSCN0305.jpg
The view Saturday morning out my front door, I love driving in snow but I have cleaning off the truck....

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/Nighthief/Snow%20Storm%202010/DSCN0313.jpg
The story behind this pic, I am in my driveway, and the plow just went by so there is about 25" of snow at the end of the driveway now...
My 33" are already a little over half way buried, so I need to gun it to get out.
So I throw it in first and punch it and the truck goes.
Well I get to the end of the drive way and just as I am passing though I am like "OH $#^%!!! I have to stop now and turn!!!" so dumb @$$ me hits the brakes and I go sliding into the trees across the road....
Needless to say I call my mom to tell her when I got to work and she says to me "I saw your little stunt out the drive we and though, oh god he is going to wreck on his way to work"

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/Nighthief/Snow%20Storm%202010/DSCN0318.jpg
In this pick I got lazy at work and didn't want to walk across the sheet of ice parking lot so I pulled up to the trash can to clean out the back of the truck from the garbage that I had lol!!!

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/Nighthief/Snow%20Storm%202010/DSCN0323.jpg
I was smarter then the guy in the H3 but still disappointed in my overall venture into the snow pile, just to soft, and that's me hitting it in reverse at about 30 mph, great flex in the rear though.

And later once its done uploading, for just stupid @$$ stuff, I made a pathetic video, keep in mind, my rear is open and the locker motor is dead so it stays that way lol:

I'm jealous. I read Philly got 27" & Dulles Airport in DC recorded a record breaking 32" - I think we only got ~6"-8" again :(. At least I got to hit the mountain fireroads again (almost kept up with the group of snowmobiles I ran into) and I did help pull a Chevy truck out of a snow bank (he was plowing and got stuck pushing the blade into a pile)

Nevermind about #1. It's now clearly a shovel....

but what are you strapped to?

Scuba
02-07-2010, 08:35 PM
Yep, Shovel. We were trying to winch some rocks out of the way so we could pass, After wasting an hour we gave up.

And #2, it was a long uphill with a left hand turn at the top and a slight off camber spot too the left of said corner..
Came up and the corner just threw me into the embankment as I was turning to make the turn..

Took out some bushes, but it was an accident. Couldn't have avoided it.
