An older lady was selling it, 35000km on the odo. I couldn't believe it, and couldn't resist it.
It will be replacing my '97 4Runner, spend last night swapping out the suspension.

Her son painted the roof rack so she could recognize her vehicle. I am in the process of fixing that colour scheme now :D

A couple of small blemishes, for the rest all is good. It should last me a while.

Appreciate the offer, but I don't think it's worth the shipping costs.
I took a rattle can to it tonight, the plastic pieces are the trickiest. Paint doesn't stick well to them.
I don't care for the crossbars anyway, I am scrapping them. I am just painting the rails.

Badlands edition ?

Canadian Specced setup. http://www.auto123.com/en/toyota/4runner/2002?carid=1026100101

Is that bilsteins or OME's I spy?
*Turn the racks crossbars around when you're done repainting them, they're on backwards.

I am just putting the rails back up. Don't care for the crossbars. I also thought they were backwards.

I swapped the OME setup from my '97 4Runner into it. I'll be selling that in the near future.

The Badlands Edition was a Canadian thing, it basically gets the fender flares and the hood scoop. Black interior, doesn't even have cruise control.

I mainly bought it for the 35k Km (21K miles).
I never use cruise control, I would have liked a sunroof. At least I have air condition and power windows now. My '97 didn't even have that.

Sounds like the badlands edition is similar to the highlander edition down here. I noticed it looks like you have a lsd though.

I never knew they had a lsd. I'll have to check that out. I'll let you know after the next time I drive in snow.

Badlands Edition, that's a new one for me. Although today on the freeway I passed a black third gen with a huge TRD Offroad sticker on the back. I noticed it was missing the 4wd badge on the liftgate and axleshafts up front...woops.

Up here they never sold 2wd 4Runners. That's a good thing imo. It should really be named a 2Runner I guess.

I'd like to know a little more about this Badlands option too, doesn't seem to be a ton of info out there.

X2

If you buy a truck up here it's usually because you need 4WD to get around in winter.
Those 2WD 4runners would probably still be on the dealer lots if they sold them in Canada.

arjan,

congrats on the purchase. the son should be shot for that gay ass painting scheme.

i'd say remove the rack completely and redo the painting. use like a 300 grit to slightly scuff up. then use what's called a paint adhesion spray. it smells to high hell so use it outdoors. Then spray on the semi gloss black paint.

removing the rails is easy but youll need a torx bit, i think its a #34 or #24. start looseing them all about 1/2 way. the plastic end caps can then be removed.
