One of the pastors of my church sent me this email a couple days ago. I know there are a few unemployed folks on this board, so I thought I'd pass it along. I'm thinking about going down myself, but kinda depends on pay.

FYI! Do you know someone looking for a job?
Greetings,
ACET, Inc. has received an immediate request to provide assistance to the devastation from the recent earthquake that has befallen the nation of Haiti. We are looking for anyone interested in going to Haiti to help for a 3- 6 month period. There are no particular skills sets defined at this point, except the willingness to help wherever needed. We will be presenting folks and highlighting their unique skills and trade qualifications, so if the opportunity to help in your area exists – it will be noted and presented. As you can well imagine, any skill that you may have – can be of great help.
Typical skill sets needed:
Carpenters
Masons
Electricians
Medical Personnel
Communications
Builders
Heavy Equipment Operators
Plumbers
Logistics
Etc.
THIS IS NOT A VOLUNTEER REQUEST – you will be paid for the work you do. This is a temporary employment assignment that will include travel, expenses, remuneration with an understanding that housing accommodations will be very basic. All that is needed at this point is a passport or ability to obtain one ASAP.
If you are seriously interested or know of someone who would be interested – please email me back ASAP or forward this email, and I will provide more details for you at that time.
This is a unique opportunity to make a difference to the people of Haiti!

Got one of those myself, and would go but the issue I have is with the political climate now and the possibility I'd be in harm's way (again) so I have not applied yet.
Find out what you can as there is a scam issue I have been warned about, sad as it is, there are those that will gladly accept your application and secure information and use it to commit credit fraud.
I forwarded my letter and this to our American and Mexican Embassy/Consulate representatives asking them to get in touch with me as to it's legitimacy and if they did need me what I now need to change on my passport and security clearances to go and help. Even if it only paid me $15/hr, I would go if it is legitimate, as they'd offer the per-diem and transportation from what I remember when we did the last effort in Mexico after the last big quake there.

FWIW, here are what's come up on my Monster account this last week..feel free to poach the resources and keywords if you want to apply yourselves, minimum qualification for some is Rescue/EMT Cert's for the medical, but logistics and Aid backgrounds also work. I don't have anything to note of yet for the heavy equipment stuff, but IIRC at minimum you need fork-lift cert, and Class-C for operating 26,000lbs/less and Class-B or A w/ endorsements and a clear record for over 26,001lbs. The employer must provide operation insurance and liability so you are not held liable.

Yeah, I was somewhat cautious about it being a scam. Before posting this, I searched google a bit, but didn't find anything about this particular organization. Everything I've seen so far makes me think this is legit. Let us know what you find out though.
I have an ok job now, but I'm waiting to hear back about more details, so I'll go from there. It sounds like just about all expenses are covered, so I should be able to bank most, if not all of my earnings. Downside is it's just a temp job.

Hit up snopes it is usually the most current, and honestly, this will be likely a government or county based deal happening as it relates to the political climate stuff I mentioned. ;) For me, even if temp, I'd hit it up if legitimate as it appears that Arnie's now effectively shutting down IHSS (http://www.dss.cahwnet.gov/cdssweb/PG139.htm). :loser: *I have yet to have been processed and have not made any wages to note of from that since October when I filed the documentation. Way to take care of those elderly around us..

The above address and numbers are listed all over the interweb, and there is a lot of interest. I feel sorry for Onekqua.
I'm waiting to hear back from somebody else that may be a recruiter as well.

Kelly Brown and Root

they have the majority of contracts for overseas military bases. you can hand out pool sticks at a recreation building for 60k per year

I dunno, IMHO, after the whole Blackwater bit, the military contractors are under such scrutiny now I'd wait a little more and why I noted the political climate before.
As for the $60k, pretty much, considering their made of titanium. :D

Haliburton and Lockheed also do some overseas contract work. Buddy of mine is a contract worker on some little tropical island in the Gulf of Mexico making big bucks.
I've been looking into it a bit myself.
I did send an email to ACET also, but haven't heard back yet.

*On the topic of Lockheed, I missed out big time because apparently, I don't have a high enough clearance to service the 400+ beach cruiser bikes they purchased, nevermind my experience in the aerospace industry, outside of my bike experience.
Apparently making $10,000 gantry shields and heat sinks, not to mention Mr. H. Kaiser as my reference doesn't carry much weight anymore.

not sure what you mean by titanium, but yeah the KBR workers on Bagram airbase handing out pool sticks make 60k. blackwater is totaly differnt.those guys are hired mercenaries. KBR has plumbers, electricions, cooks, ditch diggers...you name it over there making 5 times what they would make in the states. i think they deploy for 12 monthes with 2 weeks vacation back in the states.
