center console buttons on a 2nd gen, should be rear window up and down, and possibly a rear window lockout. could also be the ECT button IIRC

a picture would help, and playing with the buttons will not harm anything, unless the PO installed a self destruct button or an ejection seat!

What Sean said.

Right behind the shifter is the ECT button, and behind that should be the rear window up/down button and the window lockout. Should be a small coin holder next to those buttons too (more of a plug filler than anything).

My ejection seat has a safety cover on it so it's easy for anyone to identify,YMMV.

From an Auto, minus the rear window lockout, which will usually be dead center. Let me know if you have any desire to relocate any of the switches as I do the wiring harnesses for that. :D

Interesting....looks like Toyota moved the ECT button somewhere in the 2nd gen life cycle. My ECT button is where your coin holder is. :headscratch:

So is mine, plus I have a back window lockout button right next to the back window button.

I've seen this before on a 4runner that had manual windows... so the only button that was effected by the lockout was the one with the switch DIRECTLY NEXT to the lockout button.

It just doesn't make any sense!

LOL...I have the lockout button next to the up/down button as well, but I never use it. Never even tried it. If it is locked, would the key still roll the window up or down? I'm going to have to try it tomorrow.

*@Dan and Steve, remember, I did the switch relocation when I did the Wiki article on it. I wanted it closer to my fingertips, I also did the other style integrating it into the left dash like the 96+ and finally just hucked the whole damn thing for my R150 4wd swap. :D
