*Wasn't sure where else to put this so I am putting it here w/ the logic it concerns the point of the section, as this will affect how things go for future students. What if there was no Auto tech there for some of you?
Ever wonder just how involved in Automotives I and my family are, it's pretty involved, so..OK, here's the down low, after a semi-retirement from the industrial sector, my father has been instructing the Auto-Tech Program at Bret Harte High School in Altaville, Ca for roughly 18 years. He has taken it from a low funded barely self sufficient high school elective, to one of the most successfully ran programs not just in the state, but nationwide. The program has full implementation, meets current standards for matriculation, and to be flat out honest, is one of the most kick butt high school programs I have ever seen and been around.
Here's the catch, my father, who is now a Grandfather, has decided it is now a good time to hand over the keys and enjoy life outside of work and retire at 60.
They, Bret Harte Union High School District are now in need of a qualified instructor to step in and take a hold of the reins and keep the program going by no later than the end of this current semester to be changed over in time for the next Fall semester.
Serious inquiries only, I am not thinking of applying for the spot at this time.
I have seen many students come through this NATEF certified program and given the location, I am constantly in admiration of what has been done there. I know these are just my words, but my hope is that paddlenbike might chime in here since he is from that area and provide a little insight of just what kind of opportunity this presents to those involved.
OK, enough of the sales pitch, if you are a credentialed teacher in California with the requisite background and experience necessary please do not hesitate to apply for the job, which is posted at the following link:

A bonus is my Father will be continuing on with his position in CAT (http://"http://www.calautoteachers.com/job_open.html") and the district is retaining him on for the Grants part of their program so a certain level of support in the success and changeover will be present. Any familiar with the California Tech programs should be aware of Skyline's program and can contact http://www.rlescalambre.com/ or http://www.natef.org/index.cfm for further info.
Heck, after all the work, I think neither of us is willing to see the program go away and hope to see it maintain or get even better from here on out.
Here's a look at the current cirriculum: http://www.bhuhsd.k12.ca.us/BHHighSchool/Automotive/default.htm
You can also pm me for any other details or questions..
Here is an article on the neighboring program showing just how important it is these types of programs survive: http://www.hotrod.com/thehistoryof/hrdp_0705_horsepower_high_school/index.html
