If you were to apply for this job a friend is looking at what would you expect out of it and what problems do you see.

Well, I would want to know more from that brief comment Chris, and yeah Bob, one of the first things I though of. It seems to me anyone wanting to find out more about it should not only ask them questions, but also the community around them. Am I on the right track, or the sigh is because it has no relevance in here as a topic or something I should not be bringing up?
I have heard both good and bad regarding the inner workings of TLCA, and I would say that in my experience, opportunity, action, and passion are two things that rarely go well in an organization. You can talk the talk when ever you wish, but often times people end up burnt out over all the ancillary b.s. that happens pitting a local club(S) against the parent entity.
If someone knows something I don't put it out there. I haven't volunteered for anything and would want someone who would to know all sides of the story there.

I guess I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. Whether you should go for the position? Whether we think the position is worth it? or whether the position is going to put you (personally) or UY (as a club/group) at odds over something, or what?
I was uber tired the other night, and am still not apparently thinking straight because I feel like I am missing the point of the post, and I'm sure it is something I am overlooking.

1. I'm not interested in it but know someone who is.
*It is an unpaid position that would interfere w/ my ability to look for a job and have time to do so.
2. Is the position worth it, and what if anything does anyone know about the stuff?
3. It is not likely at all any affiliations someone would have w/ forums or groups would cause issue, in fact it would be an asset for the contacts available.
4. It seems TLCA like NorCalTTORA is facing or has faced some internal struggles of late, or at least serious personality conflicts??
5. I could be overanalyzing it all.

I think 5 is true.
Everyone has internal struggles/conflicts.
Is the position worth it? Worth what? It's unpaid. If your friend is satisfied by a job well done, then voila, if not, then no its not worth it.

Ditto. Let your friend figure it out.

Shane, I'm going to call you out on something that I'm not sure if other members have or not but please don't take this as a slap in the face rather a really good constructive criticism.
Sometimes you confuse the hell out of me w/ your comments because it damn hell does not make sense. I had to read your post 8 times, YES eight times to vaguely understand what you were writing. Usually by the time I have to read it that may times I will just give up and close the thread cuz I just don't want to deal with it cuz it doesn't entertain me or is not that important enough. If you've got info to state, then say so.
This is what I'm reading from this thread....
You either want the job or you know someone that wants it but you want to make sure it's the right decision to move forward because you fear there's a bunch of internal issues hence the reason why they lost the previous VP.
If that was the case, then just say so instead of being cryptic cuz what you wrote made no sense. And if that's not what you wrote then what the hell did you write?

My bad then, I thought it was clear enough, sorry, yes, Lance, I know someone interested in it and want peoples experiences and input to pass along.
I can see people may not understand what I meant, but tried to clear up things as best possible. If that is the case, people need to ask specifically what I need to clear up b/c in my thought process, I gave a open statement w/ a link to follow and see what I was referring to and expected people to say yea or nay about it and why to their reasoning.
Next time I just won't post the stuff up or pre-emtively pass out decoder rings for the masses.

The problem is some people will not have the patience to ask "hey what the hell did you write" posts. If it doesn't make sense they'll just move on and may miss out on a great thread of debate/discussion.
So to avoid that I think it might be a great idea if you write something and then proofread it out loud to see if that makes sense. I do this all of the time because my brain is going 100mph typing w/o really thinkin straight. I suspect you're doing the same so to avoid any confusion I highly recommend you reread your comments prior to the "post" button is pressed.
Remember "reading is fundamental". I tell this all of the time to my guys and you would be surprised how many times I have to repeat this catch phrase! It's so trivial yet people fail all the time...
Now back to the topic at hand....
If your friend wants to do it... DO IT. All orgs will have internal issues... that's expected. If he/she does it and it ends up not being all that then leave. no harm done..

I dunno if I would just jump in though. It seems like the whole "Burger and Pizza Rule" applies.
You like their food and apply there and then after seeing things can't ever eat there again.
I am afraid from what I believe I see he would burn out really quickly and not be able to keep his passion for the overall picture.
In other words, I would hate for him to delude himself into thinking he can work miracles for them.

:D There, I just edited the O/T to hopefully say it all in just one sentence. Now, staff's comments aside which I do value, I am gonna address this..

Look, it's obvious you don't respect me and like to jump in and bash so why don't you just save us the drama and stay out of my posts, Ok. This way the staff here doesn't have to deal with it and I don't have to deal with you being a blatant ass.
[EDIT]Then again I gotta wonder why someone is posting from a locatable I.P. that appears to have been used as another member recently..
Cool..we can use alias accounts now? Can I be B00Bootz33kollinsFunkadelic?

I'm not bashing you. I just think that you type in a train of thought that doesn't translate well when you type it. It's like you're having a conversation with us but we missed the first half of it most of the time.

I'm almost certain if I search long enough I can find this EXACT same quote from another thread by a different member....
I think Shane, its all to true. i don't think you're doing anything wrong inherently, I believe its just like Whitey said, it reads like we came in on the end of a thought and missed the first half so very little makes sense.

I think it's part of the new dad syndrome. Makes you do, think and say weird things. Most of it is caused by the lack of sleep, added stress, household full of crazy hormones and change in lifestyle.
Shane, from what I got about your original post it sounds like there is a position available that has the potential to be very rewarding. Along with rewarding it may also bring along a lot of BS from different people and places (sounds a lot like the real world). IMO it sounds great if "you" have the time it looks like it requires and want to stick with it.

Thanks Mike and Chris, all good. *FWIW add to the new Dad bit the taking care of someone who's over 90 years old, dying, and insane and I saw how I could be unclear there and why I clarified it all. Sleep has long been a lost asset to me, I'll keep in mind the suggestions to that detour. As for the TLCA spot, I think the person who's looking at doing it would be great there as he has been very helpful in the arena of mtb access and involvement, including time in IMBA's system.
