Hey guys,
Me and Chris (04 Rocko Taco) are looking to get my new project runner back in shape, it's been sitting a long time, in a junk yard, and then in a field... parts have gone missing obviously. I need pictures of the engine bays from anyone who has a 3.0 I need them from any and all angles. I am trying to figure out exactly what is missing, and what goes where. Thanks!!

Damn, you'd think that pic was taken the day it rolled off of the assembly line. That's a picture every buyer wants to see on a for sale ad. What's it say 140K+ miles?

Thats actually nice buddy! We may have to reference it and ask you lots of details like where is the other end of THAT hose, and things of that nature. Thanks!!

WOW! That is an incredible engine bay, looks like it came right out of a dealer brochure.
Almost makes me not even want to try...... Not quite, but almost
Seriously though, thanks for the pic. It will definitely help, and like Chris said, we my be asking you some more detailed questions if you don't mind... Though judging by the pic, i guess you know your way around that engine bay pretty well.

I don't suppose you could clarify if you want as close to the 1988 year you posted yours is or just what people have to use as a reference for how stuff goes? Also whether it's a 5-speed or automatic, and whether it's the vacuum cruise-control or electronic, as each of those combinations affected the layout of the bay. I figure you probably want to go original, but if you're open to looking at the newer configurations, you'll see how you can move some things and free up some space for say an ARB Air-Compressor, etc.
I'll give what I can here in advance..
IIRC this is how they pretty much looked from 1993 to 1995 on the Automatics with Vacuum Cruise Control.
(These were on my storage drive for some odd reason..maybe Lil'Bro's rebuild?)

Thanks for the pics, Hopefully this will get us by, I'm not looking to restore it or anything, i just need to get it running so i can get it out on the trails.
NorCalBorn, Thanks for the closeups of all the vac lines and hoses. Mine is a manual with electronic cruise, though i am not really concerned with that working. The pics sure will be helpful though!
Thanks!

Well, I thought I'd add a few pictures to this thread as well. I know they are similar to the above pics, but I figured there are enough changes to make posting worth wile. These pics are of a '90 4Runner engine bay:

Dan, if you want your dealer can order you a new one, then you disconnect the battery, remove it, then you touch the two leads together to discharge the system. You can then pin out each connector into the new harness to keep it all in the right order. I've had to do 3 recently, it's pretty easy stuff.
Also, you have a loose hose clamp..

I think it was 147k or 149k. The truck was definitely in nice shape. :)

At least I know who's shots they are now. Now I wonder if Lil'Bro was trying to save them for his build since we have the same computers...oh well, at least they're around for people still. Let me know if you want me to delete them from my flickr.
