I know this has been posted to death...when it's not working at all. I can't find it ANYWHERE with my problem. My window goes down like a champ...for an inch. Goes up just as easily. But I can't get it to go down any farther. I've pulled the panel off and can see everything...I don't see any obvious jams there...the rails holding the window are rusty as is everything else in there, but it doesn't appear to be rotted out. Is there a way to open the door and by pass the lock? Seems like it'd be so much easier to see what was going on if I could see in the hole and roll the window up and down. I see most of how the mechanism works, and pull up on that little pin so that it thinks it's not locked, but then it still doesn't open the latches. Tried pulling on them from the inside too to see if that could get them to open...no luck there either. SO...suggestions?

Had this happen on an 86 bronco, the tracks were all rusted out and also (not sure about the 4Runners setup), internally there was a catch that needed to be in the right spot that was frozen up.

I think you can get to the guts, should have an access panel that bolts off under the rugging.

Shoot some wd40 down the glass guides. that worked on mine that was stuck towards bottom..

I've got that off...I don't see any place that it would be catching on to make it not come down.

had similar issue with my 91. rusty everything. sprayed it all down with lithium grease including the gears. i had to pull he motor out so i could open the tailgate. just watch your fingers cause the glass may fall without warning when the motor is out.
