Does anyone know if there is a performance rebuild kit for a 2000 4runner manual tranny? I have been looking and I can only seem to find automatic ones. Its time for me to rebuild mine cause 3rd and 4th grind and I offroad rally style a lot. I was looking for something that allows me to be able to upgrade the engines components without having to put in a completely different trans. Stuff like a supercharger. Just want to make sure that if I do that it'll be capable of handling more power then stock. Thx!

I believe Marlin Crawler sells a rebuild kit but I don't think it's a "performance" rebuild. Our 4Runners use a very similar R-series transmission to that used in the Supra turbos which hold way more power than a supercharged 3.4 is likely to ever make. I had 485 ft lbs of torque, which was nothing compared to what some of my Supra friends were running. I would go with a standard rebuild kit.

*Invest wisely, just get the factory or Marlin stuff. ^Exactly. If the r-series can hold up behind a stroked Chevy 350 as well as the 1uz/2uz, not to mention behind the hands of some race teams, I am certain the factory rebuild kits are going to serve just fine.
The bigger of things you need to be sure of is whether or not your trans specifically takes a Gl-4 or a Gl-5 rated gear oil. if it takes 4, go with 4 or your syncros will not break in properly and you'll never get them to mesh well.
GL-5 is specifically for differentials on most of the Toyota's, and until recently you only used 4 for the trans. Transfer cases can take the 5 on the manuals and actually run cooler. :D

Marlin is not selling rebuild kits ATM. Not sure why but that's what the site says.
On the note of fluid, I found my w59 likes gl4 better then gl5..

^Same w/ my R150F, GL-4 or it didn't sync well at all.
