Hey guys. Just getting into getting bumpers done. I can see front and side supports for front bumper, but I want to see what the mounting points and side supports for the rear bumper. I read that the rear bumper is simply attached to the body and really want to have this mounted to the frame and provide protection to the body.

Thanks,
J

I used simple side plates to the outside of the frame rail, but I've got a 1st gen (not sure how similar to yours)

here's some of what I did (http://www.ultimateyota.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=4256.msg40131#msg40131)

it looks like its almost identical to how to mount a 2nd gen bumper... altho the frame supports next to the rear tires might have to be a little different...

That is awesome stuff, Corax. Love the avatar pic too.

All of you guys on here that fab up your own stuff and do your own re-engineering do an incredible job.

Just thinking about the rear bumper, I'll need to make a slot for the spare tire rod to lower the spare tire.

I figured that out on my bumper after it was built, but luckily before I needed to drop the spare. :shake:

As long as your bumper isn't sticking out much, you might not need to do anything to accomodate it - remember to leave ~1" between the bumper and body to allow for impact movement
