The Jr Fusters play airsoft with their friends on our property all the time. My 15 yr old has a hand made guillie suit and everything. Over the years he has amassed an arsenal of 7 guns. Two of which have been confiscated for shooting my yota and Mrs Fuster's garden temperature/barometer/humidity thingy. You should see how wild it gets when 15 teenagers are running around our yards and gardens shooting, shouting and hiding. They make me laugh. I hide in my shop and can hear hundreds of little plastic pellets hitting the sheetmetal while I'm in there working.

I don't "play" airsoft but have had a few guns. I used to have a target setup in the house made out of a cardboard bicycle box. I'd shoot at it during commercials or when I had energy to expel. I'd take the box outside but the bb's would go everywhere and my roommates 112 year old cat would eat them. I was always afraid the cat would choke and I'd be the one to blame because of the bbs. I've got my own house and backyard now but I'm pretty sure my 16 month old would pick up every bb she found and try to swallow it. Needless to say my wife would rather I don't shoot in the house or backyard (sheesh). There are a couple of shops in the area that sell some highend stuff and have little get togethers but I've never looked into it. Maybe here in a few months my daughter will get out of her eating everything phase and I can set up something in the backyard.

One of my best friends just got back into it. Competitive air soft guns are expensive! He's been going up to Velocity in Ramona on the weekends. I believe it's $25 per day plus rental if you need it. I was planning on going up there with him soon and checking it out if you'd be interested...

I used to play competitive paintball back in the day, and am curious how they "play" airsoft? is it sort of "role playing" based? urban warfare that type of thing? Or is it like paintball on a more open field?

I think 'playing' is a relative term. Some guys 'play' with the same intensity and competitiveness as guys who 'play' pro baseball. Some guys play like they play city league or church softball.

The Jr Fusters are just happy to be shooting at a moving target that shoots back.
