Truck dead after electrical short. Multiple Problems.

driving home last night and my truck died the battery post seems to have come in contact with the latch for the tray and shorted out the system. i was getting only a check eningine light and noting else not even hazards. pushed the truck off the road in reverse and had it towed. seems like the parking break is stuck on now even though it is clearly not engaged and the truck is sputtering and dieing everytime i put her in gear. Any help? this is a 92 pick up with 233,000 that i just got running after 6 years of sitting in a garage. if that helps.

Are there any trouble codes? Did you check all the fuses?

seems like the parking break is stuck on now even though it is clearly not engaged

Is the battery light also on? Check charging voltage to make sure the alternator didn't take a hit when the battery shorted.
